Very unfriendly staffs who can't solve any problems. They only let you call the support hotline when they can easily fix the technical problems. Chaotic organization.

i really had high hopes for this job, but it's absolutely terrible. i've been here for about 2 weeks and there was hardly any training at all, maybe 30 min at most. it's practically impossible to meet the rate (2 items per minute) because the isles are so small and constantly filled with other co-workers also trying to work. on my second day they were trying to get me to do what everyone else was doing, and seemed annoyed whenever i had an issue with the technology. i'm a bit smaller so obviously pushing around a 50lbs cart is going to be hard at first, but they don't recognize that. all they care about is how fast you are going, which has caused me to get injured almost everyday from bruises caused by cheap latters, or trying to open boxes with cheap openers. the co-workers are pretty cool though and they have a small yet nice break room. the job itself is fun in all truth, it's just the managers that make it sad. scheduling is terrible, you aren't really alerted of new shifts so it's so hard to have a stable income unless you're available any time of the day. wouldn't recommend unless you're desperate.

I am a recently terminated employee, I will try and keep this as unbiased as possible. 1. Let’s start with the pros of working for Amazon, the pay is relatively decent as you are payed weekly every Friday morning you can look forward to money being deposited into your bank account. How much you are payed varies for your area, the San Leandro Area the starting pay was 16.45 which is above minimum wage. So definitely a very great first job for anyone. 2. The Amazon A to Z app is quite easy to navigate, extremely easy to manage benefits, paystubs, pick shifts, and request PTO. The app is consistently receiving new updates and having more and more things added to it. The numerous tabs on the app lead you to Amazon websites. 3. The facility is constantly being cleaned by Janitorial staff, 2 janitors are always on site cleaning with machines and sweeping the floors. The bathrooms are cleaned every couple of hours, making sure they’re sanitary enough to lower risk of COVID transmission. There is 3 operational bathrooms that were serviceable 100% of the time I was there. One out of the three bathrooms was unserviceable once during a shift of mine, but was up and running within the next few hours, which is above and beyond. 4. On my first day PPE was given out to my orientation group. We were given box cutters, gloves, hand sanitizer, and cotton liners. Making sure that employees do not have to go out of their way to have adequate equipment to perform their work duties. 5. The break system was simple but it was effective to keep you going throughout your shift without feeling too much fatigue. That would be all the positives I can think of. Now to start off with the cons, and there sure is a lot of them. So many I am unable to list them all. 1. The most difficult thing about Amazon has to be the disastrous picking a shift function. Amazon makes it well known that they have flexible hours, which in itself is true, as there is multiple start times throughout the day. However, only a certain amount of shifts are posted every day and only a certain amount of people can fill those shifts. Making it very Hunger Games like, so first come first served. Making it extremely difficult to set yourself up a good work schedule for the week. 2. The COVID 19 precautions are extremely poor, the facility being large tends to be very cramped in most areas. Especially in the aisles containing merchandise as you must navigate with a mini shopping cart picking and packing customer orders. There would be numerous people in one single aisle working shoulder to shoulder, making it difficult to social distance. Also, a large amount of workers would improperly wear a protective mask, having there nose hang over the top. Others would wear a non protective mask, such as neck gaiters, bandanas, and ironically a non protective Amazon mask that is given to you. Managers did not seem to enforce the mask policy, as my whole time spent there I rarely witnessed an employee be reprimanded or asked to fix there mask. 3. Frequently I witnessed unsanitary handling of produce being prepped to be delivered to the consumer. Also, a lack of use for blue latex gloves to handle the produce safely. Produce is set on shelves throughout the many aisles, and is inevitable to fall down every so often as employees move around throughout their shift. The logical thing to do would be to throw away produce such as, apples, oranges, cucumbers, etc. Sadly, I have witnessed employees dust off the produce and proceed to place it into the consumers bag. When questioned by myself the employee would act as if nothing was wrong. So I would strongly encourage for a consumer to wash produce, or anything without a protective covering such as the product coming in a pre sealed bag. 4. The managers seemed to be only concerned about rates, and how quick employees were able to complete a customers order. Concerned, to the point where employees were discouraged to go use the bathroom outside of their break time.

It's rough around the edges, but the selection of items is solid, staff is friendly and the prices are great.
