Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
BUDGET
- Develop and lead the organizational wide budget process, including census, revenue, staffing and expense development.
- Assist program staff with preparation of operating budgets, including gathering data to enable program staff to prepare accurate and meaningful budgets.
- Prepare analysis of the feasibility of budgeting assumptions.
- Identify revenue requirements and assist program staff and resource development department with obtaining revenue.
- Ensure that current operating budgets are properly reflected in the accounting system.
- Prepare or assist program staff with the preparation of pro-forma operating budgets necessary for program expansion or resource development.
- Prepare capital budgets for both Volunteers of America of Minnesota and Volunteers of America in Minnesota.
- Assist management with prioritizing capital expenditure requests.
- Assist with the communication of budget assumptions and information to the board of directors or outside interested parties.
- Assist management in analyzing and resolving revenue problems. Initiate or suggest plans to maximize revenue.
FINANCIAL ANALYSIS
- Perform complex financial modeling, data analysis and business planning in support of the organization’s forecast and long-term plan.
- Prepares month-end business performance reports, including forward-looking performance estimates and financial statement variance analysis, to partner with leadership to recommend improvement plans.
- Evaluate and communicate financial performance, including but not limited to key performance indicators, trends, drivers, and benchmarking analysis.
- Understands revenue cycle trends/changes and partners with internal subject matter experts.
- Develop and manage standardized allocation methodologies of administrative expenses to the programs.
- Collaborate with key business partners across the organization to develop, recommend and establish strategies, plans and processes to improve growth, profitability and cost efficiencies.
- Partners with leadership on the development of business plans for capital and program expansion.
- Seeks out new opportunities for continuous improvement and efficiency.
- Provides complex ad hoc analysis, including staffing changes, new technologies, services and programs based on multiple assumptions.
OTHER
- Automates and contributes to the innovation of key processes.
- Executes implementation solutions that conform to best practices.
- Participates in program rate increases and contract/proposal reviews.
- Other duties as assigned.
