Job Summary

The Marketing & Communications Specialist for Business Career Services creates and executes plans and deliverables to engage employers and students in events to spur networking and recruitment for 9 undergraduate majors and 5 specialized master’s programs.



Using tools including social media, email marketing, web content, and internal outreach, the Specialist will increase student awareness and access of BCS services, and collaborate on strategies to engage employer partners. The role includes measurement and assessment of the success of outreach methods in reaching stated objectives.



This position plays a key role in promoting a range of department events and activities, including career fairs, information sessions, coach appointments, alumni events, club meetings, and department collaborations.



In addition, the Marketing & Communications Specialist will supervise and train a group of part-time student design employees to develop their skills and execute needed deliverables to support BCS activities and promotions.



Responsibilities

  • Creating and executing on marketing strategies for student and employer engagement.

  • Managing and tracking marketing initiatives that support engagement goals.

  • Mentoring and collaborating with a team of student interns who design student and employer-facing communications.

  • Writing copy and editing student copy for advertising and external messaging.

  • Analyzing data from marketing campaigns and program applications.

  • Collaborate with Business Career Services staff and other key stakeholders to concept campaigns and project ideas. 15%




Minimum Qualifications

  • Familiar with creating data-driven marketing strategies and plans using key marketing analytics.

  • Experience with a variety of outreach methods including email and social media (LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, other developing channels), print, email, etc.

  • Demonstrated promotional writing and editing skills; the ability to effectively coach students in writing; command of English grammar. (A sample will be requested.)

  • Graphic design skills required, Adobe Illustrator highly preferred.

  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field plus 3+ years of related experience or the equivalent.

  • Facility with project management; ability to juggle multiple tasks.

  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills; ability to work both individually and in a team setting.

Preferences

  • Experience with CRMs and/or Salesforce a plus.

  • Knowledge of email marketing systems such as Mailchimp or Pardot a plus.

  • Professional experience in copy writing, editing, photography, web writing, graphic design, audio & video production, and/or oral presentation desirable.
