Under the general direction of the Safety Programs Manager at the ULCA Office of Environment, Health & Safety, serve as the technical expert and coordinate a broad variety of employee safety programs across the UCLA campus. Responsibilities include setting goals and priorities, managing resources and ensuring protection and stewardship at UCLA. Duties include the management and development of programs to prevent injuries and accidents and track trends in campus injury statistics. Create and implement various safety programs to reduce accidents and assist department managers to identify resources for safety training and other accident prevention training topics.

Required/Preferred
1. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other staff members, administrators, managers, subordinates, and academia.
Required
2. Skill in setting priorities which accurately reflect the importance of the job responsibilities.
Required
Advanced knowledge of basic principles of occupational safety and health gained from a college level educational background or equivalent work experience and have the ability to apply this understanding to the tasks of accident prevention, surveys, and hazard recognition.

4. Skill in working independently and following through on assignments.
Required
Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local health and safety codes to access, and provide accurate information to the campus community.
Required
6. Ability to make oral group presentations to persuade others to accept a specific action or opinion and to provide information to explain procedures, polices, etc.
Required
7. Skill in writing concise, logical, grammatically correct analytical reports.
Required
8. Ability to use a personal computer and related business software.
Required
9. Ability to analyze complex technical data and make recommendations based on the data.
Required
10. Detailed knowledge of CCR, Title 8. and other applicable state and federal codes and ability to interpret the meaning to the campus community.

11. Ability to wear personal protective equipment.
Required
12. Ability to respond to accidents and incidences after normal university business hours.
Required
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health or closely related field or a combination of education and experience. Masters degree in related field preferred.

14. Ability to provide safety programs to employees working day, evening, swing or night shifts.
Required
15. Ability to lift and transport 50 lbs. (assistance can be provided if necessary).
Required
16. Ability to conduct job walks in the field.
