The CPQ Solution Architect will be responsible for the design and development of flexible and scalable solutions on the global Sonoco CPQ platforms. This role requires that you understand CPQ design and development best practices and can apply them to the delivery of business solutions. The Architect will work with technical and cross-functional business teams to implement deployments, enhancements, projects, and resolve incidents; and requires a combination of analytical, technical, business acumen, and communication skills.
You will develop tools to help scale our revenue-generating operations and increase sales efficiency. This is a multi-faceted role where you will work multi-functionally and globally with our Sales, Commercial Excellence, Finance, and Audit teams.
This is a remote role with up to 10% travel, on an as-needed basis. The CPQ Solution Architect will report to our CPQ Product Owner, as part of our larger Digital Transformation organization.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable integrated technical solutions in Sonoco’s CPQ environment.
Create and collaborate on the solution and technical design artifacts, and present and participate in cross-functional review sessions.
Evaluate needs vs wants; and communicate technical solutions and design tradeoffs to Business Applications team members as well as business stakeholders.
Display expertise in CPQ functionality and features, through all interactions on Business Applications projects.
Provide technical support for new projects, enhancements, and bug fixes related to solutions being delivered on the CPQ platform.
Partner with Commercial Excellence team to analyze business processes to develop best practices, identify gaps and critical metrics, and drive tool set across all businesses.
Evaluate existing code and develop plans to reduce technical debt over time and establish a technology roadmap with system architects.
Coordinate and collaborate with other developers and team members to obtain requirements, develop solution design, manage UATs, and post-go-live activities.
Establish best practices and standards for well-designed, testable, efficient code with high quality.
Manage test plans for system upgrades, enhancements, and regression testing. Support automated test plans when/where practical.
Administration of CPQ system, to include user setups, Data source and Datamart setups and maintenance and workflow design/updates.
Ensuring compliance of any changes or new developments to audit guidelines.
Providing support to the business and being respectful of SLA requirements and Sonoco IT change control compliance.
Champion the CPQ process by embedding Sonoco’s Core Values (Integrity, Respect, Service, Teamwork, Accountability).
Professional Skill Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Business
Strong understanding of Pricing Management
5+ years of CPQ development/administration experience (PriceFX & Oracle Mfg. preferred)
Experience with CRM systems - functionality and features
Familiarity with integration applications (MuleSoft preferred)
Proficient with programming languages such as Java or Groovy not required, but appreciated
Self-starter, self-motivated, able to work independently, prioritize effectively, and perform multiple tasks under minimal supervision
Experience in agile development methodology
Excellent communication skills and proven success in a dynamic and collaborative environment
Experience designing test plans, performing unit testing, and writing test classes to ensure proper code coverage
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to work across global teams, focusing on standardization but allowing for local requirements.
