The Mechanical Systems and Components (MS&C) Environmental Control Systems (ECS) organization has an immediate need for Principal Systems Engineer to work on various Air Transport, Regional, Business and Military aircraft. This position reports to the ECS Control Systems Integration and Dynamic Analysis Sr. Manager. The selected individual will be responsible for applying technical expertise in control system definition, design, and integration in support of successful implementation, verification, and certification of Environmental Control Systems (Bleed Air, Air Conditioning, Vapor Cycle, etc.).This role includes interfacing within and across multiple Honeywell sites and customer interaction. Participating in all aspects of aircraft and system integration design and development activities with an emphasis on controls design and integration of military applications. Provides technical leadership to other disciplines, interfaces with internal leaders and external customers, chief engineers, and subject matter experts to accomplish program objectives. Leads the development of ECS controls architecture, integration, and dynamic performance, including verification and validation activities.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

·System Requirements definition and validation analysis including controls architecture, functionality, and dynamic performance.

·Hardware and Software requirements definition and analysis including key characteristics and performance aspects, electrical and data bus interfaces.

·Development process coordination and handoffs between internal and external stakeholders, communication with chief engineering and technical management.

·Coordinate with leaders from systems, controls design, component design, dynamic analysis, component modeling/analysis and subject matter experts within the broader ECS organization.

·Document and develop controls design best practices.

·Lead/Support proposal efforts for new business opportunities including controls design and integration, cost estimation and schedule planning.

·Provide team mentorship and develop technical and process skills with the ECS organization including domestic and global sites.

·Lead Control System Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) Analysis involving issue troubleshooting at the aircraft or system level and definition of robust solutions to identified test problems. Technical focal point for external customers and internal stakeholders including communication with chief engineering and technical management.

·System Integration Test Support including facility architecture and requirements, test model definition, characterization test plans/procedures, test execution support and data processing/review.

Travel within the US and/ or internationally: 10%

YOU MUST HAVE

·Master’s Degree or PhD in Aerospace, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering

·15+ years’ controls experience

·Due to export control regulations, this position requires US citizenship status

·Expertise with physics based dynamic modeling and analysis of air and thermal systems (pressure and flow management, heat transfer)

·Simulation and automation expertise using Matlab/Simulink, Parallel Computing Toolbox, Cluster Computing, Python, Visual Basic, etc.

·Technical expertise in control system design (closed loop control, logic definition).

·Strong, effective verbal and written communication skills.

·Ability to learn quickly and adapt to an environment with dynamic process and program needs.

·Experience with Aerospace System, Hardware and Software development processes and standards (ARP 4754A, DO-178C, DO-254).
