Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 15 years of experience in engineering, including experience with technical innovation within engineering environments
- Experience leading technical teams
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience establishing excellent partnerships with stakeholders at various levels, and influencing and driving change in partnership with those stakeholders
- Experience with advanced systems architecture
- Ability to balance detailed, technical guidance with big picture strategy, enabling teams to deliver products that are effective and building technical strategy on a multi-year plan
- Ability to provide motivation by creating a shared sense of vision or purpose through a collaborative leadership approach
- Ability to embrace all forms of solution inclusive of third-party products and architectures to solve business needs
About the job
The Principal Engineer for Corporate Engineering (Corp Eng) will be a systems architect/liaison to different groups, and will bring together technologies across Corporate Engineering. You will engage with technical areas across Core and Google in representing Corp Eng focus and strategy, and connect Corp Eng to Core and company-wide priorities.
You will support the Vice President of Corp Eng and partner closely with the Corp Eng leadership team to influence and define a technical roadmap for how Corp Eng evolves the architecture across proprietary builds and integrations of third-party tools. You will improve productivity by empowering Googlers with technology.

Responsibilities
- Own the technical vision, strategy, objectives, approach, and roadmap(s) for a key area of interest for the company, identified as one of Core s Objectives and Key Results.
- Influence and establish the success and delivery across partner teams and projects. Drive change across Corp Eng to meet broader Core goals.
- Support directors and vice presidents, and establish and drive innovative approaches to anticipate and address problems. Develop solutions where precedents may not exist and the best option may not be clear.
- Drive cross-organizational collaboration across Corp Eng and Core s pillar organizations, ensuring the strategy, direction, and decisions of all workstreams are integrated and aligned. Build and maintain relationships with cross-functional and executive client leadership.
