Position Summary

The Proposal Support Lead Analyst is responsible for managing the proposal development process for less complex, custom bids, from receipt of the RFP through proposal submission. This individual will have specialized knowledge of their primary business segment, with the ability to support other segments as needed. The Proposal Support Lead Analyst is responsible for concurrently managing multiple proposals with aggressive deadlines. They support follow-up , finalist, and contracting activities, as needed.

The RFP process includes: appropriately engaging sales, account management, and other cross-functional leadership to review and develop a market-specific bid strategy and working together to understand and resolve any bid challenges; formatting RFP response documents in accordance with Express Scripts’ brand; researching and incorporating responses from our response database and working with subject matter experts to develop custom responses for questions that need further research or buy-in; working with client pricing to provide a pricing arrangement and responses to pricing-specific questions; and submitting our proposal response externally. In all cases, this position is responsible for ensuring the responses to requests and questions are compliant with RFP requirements, instructions, and Express Scripts’ contractual obligations. This includes facilitating negotiations amongst cross-functional partners to increase compliance rates, while appropriately mitigating business risk. Additionally, the Proposal Support Lead Analyst is responsible for actively participating in cross-functional projects and process enhancements across the team. The Proposal Support Lead Analyst mentors and trains new Proposal Support Lead Analysts.

Proposal Support Lead Analysts have interactions/communication with VP-level and above. Proposal Support Lead Analysts must demonstrate strong problem resolution abilities, working with cross functional partners across the organization to negotiate solutions and agreement to RFP requirements and questions. They are responsible for educating cross-functional partners on current strategy, database language, positioning, and the overall RFP process. Proposal Support Lead Analyst are involved in negotiating requirements and advocating for complex cross-functional engagement and agreement on non-standard issues. Hours for this role vary and occasionally exceed the standard 9-5 schedule.

Proposal Support Lead Analysts should have strong project management skills, good judgment, and the ability to effectively multitask. Proposal Support Lead Analysts work collaboratively with subject matter experts at varying levels of management across the company to maintain the integrity of information in the proposal database as well as continually investigate possible improvements to the content and presentation of database material. The position also includes supporting applicable department goals via day-to-day work and special projects, facilitating meetings, problem solving, reviewing and assigning work, training and mentoring new hires, and training proposal managers on how to navigate and use proposal database information.

Qualifications

o Bachelor’s Degree or 8 – 11 years equivalent experience

o 2-5 years relevant work experience in highly regulated business climate, with project management and analytical work experience or Master’s Degree

o Lean or Six Sigma experience preferred

o Experience with PC, Windows, and LANS

o Experience in directing or working with multi-disciplinary teams.

o Strategic thinker with excellent prioritization skills.

o Demonstrated professionalism and flexibility required to interact independently with diverse and growing internal and external customer base.

o Ability to represent the business in providing solutions to challenging technical issues associated with client implementation.

o Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.

o Ability to work cross functionally with other departments or services to acquire input into implementation strategies and documents.

o Demonstrated ability to coordinate tools, resources and people through to project completion.

o Knowledge of PBM industry preferred.

o Excellent approach to problem-solving.

o Excellent written, verbal communication skill.

o Ability to plan for and integrate multiple tasks concurrently.

o Perform and document client implementation processes.
