The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a full-time HR Business Partner ($58,939 -$75,147/yr DOE) to serve as a trusted advisor to align strategic goals of building organization capability. The ideal candidate will be an experienced professional who is dedicated to serving employees with honesty and integrity. This person will work with multiple levels of leadership and exude an innovative yet modern approach towards working effectively and efficiently to deliver on city-wide goals.

The Human Resource Business Partner is the first point of contact for employees in their Business Units, working closely with the Department Director and senior management and serving the employees within the business unit. This role is critical since it provides HR support to departments in the city and provides specialist knowledge of the Human Resource functions. The essential functions are employee inquiries, data analytics, employee engagement, policy management, employee relations, mediation, total rewards, talent acquisition, and organizational development.

The Human Resource Business Partner salary is based on experience. Additionally, the city pays all premiums for our employees' dental, long-term disability protection, and life insurance plus the majority portion of the medical premium for employees and their dependents. We are seeking a candidate who can:

  • Strategically plan and advise departments on future needs and growth. The ability to think big picture and correlate concepts to the business unit needs.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with leadership and employees to provide advice coach and counsel on employee-related and organizational obstacles.
  • Develop and leverage metrics to influence leaders on organizational effectiveness to enhance City of Pearland employee's experience
  • Coordinate and conduct training and development initiatives, including conducting research, developing draft plans on various topics
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to boost communication throughout the City by using synergistic initiatives.
  • Assist employees with the coordination of benefits and programs, including FMLA, Extended LOA, Military LOA, and accruals.
  • Conduct non-Title 7 employee investigations to ensure employee concerns are addressed before the problem escalates.
  • Manage city-wide projects with internal SMEs

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Human Resources or closely related field
  • 4 + years of Human Resources Generalist or Business Partner experience
  • 1-3 years of experience of employee relations
  • PHR, SHRM- CP or IPMA-CP preferred

Competencies:

  • Communicates in a clear and concise manner with the ability to read, write and speak
  • Organized and able to manage multiple priorities while meeting competing deadlines
