JOB DESCRIPTION

As BBBSI grows in terms of scale, complexity, and impact, we seek a VP, Advancement. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Vice President, Advancement serves as a key leadership team member and an active participant in making strategic decisions affecting BBBSI. The VP, Advancement grows existing relationships and helps forge new relationships to build the organization's visibility, impact, and financial resources. The VP, Advancement designs and implements a comprehensive plan, built on the cultivation of key individuals and organizations, that results in greater philanthropic support from external constituents and advances a culture of philanthropy within the organization. The VP leads and manages the fundraising strategy for the entire organization to rigorously engage current and new individual donors, foundations, corporations, and government partners, growing overall financial resources and securing the necessary funders to provide a deep investment in program relevancy/expansion.

The VP is responsible for planning, directing, and implementing a comprehensive, multi-million dollar development program, and developing talented team members focused toward the goal of significantly increasing donor engagement and fundraising outcomes. BBBSI is seeking a seasoned professional to lead sustainable growth, work with the CEO, COO, and Senior Leadership, the Governing Board, the Board Advancement Committee, and the Honorary Board to maintain and elevate current donors, expand and diversify the BBBSI donor base/pipeline, drive new revenue, and expand development capabilities for one of the country's leading BBBS agencies. Candidates should have direct Capital campaign experience.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership, Management, Accountability (35%)

Lead, manage, and inspire a staff of nine, including three direct reports, toward accountable, goal-oriented outcomes.

Work with CEO/COO, Campaign Consultants, and Agency stakeholders to plan and execute revenue-generating campaigns. Establish priorities for Marketing & Communications support of the Advancement team.

Partner with the CEO/COO and contracted lobbying support as needed to support identify, propose, and pull through Federal, State, and Local grant opportunities.

Serve as the staff liaison to the Board Advancement Committee and the Honorary Board. Work with the CEO/COO to keep the Governing Board informed of fundraising activities; train Board members in fundraising; support onboarding and engagement of new Board members.

Strengthen and ensure dynamic processes and strategies for Advancement in all phases of donor identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, and pull-through within team and across the organization to meet fundraising goals and enhance effectiveness and efficiency.

Oversee integration of Indyforce (Salesforce CRM) into agency practices; partner with Finance and other relevant staff to enhance and maintain gift processing policies and procedures, and ensure thorough and accurate record-keeping/reconciliation.

Identify, implement, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for Advancement.

Ensure compliance of all donations and problem-solve with Leadership any perceived compliance risks.

Fundraising (40%)

Maintain and grow a dynamic portfolio of high net worth individuals, securing major, principal, and planned gifts, raising at least $1M annually in new funding through effective donor identification, qualification, cultivation, and solicitation.

Grow major gifts, corporate gifts, and foundation gifts through the Board Advancement Committee and Agency stakeholders.

Steward local leaders, business and corporate partnerships, government, foundation, and other stakeholders, building relationships that closely link the community with the Agency, serving as an exemplary Agency advocate in the community.

Maintain assigned Indyforce (Salesforce) records.

Strategy & Planning (25%)

Advance the mission and vision of the Agency, ensuring integration through Advancement strategy and implementation, including donor campaigns and special events.

Oversee and direct all channels of fundraising, including individual giving/annual fund, major gifts, planned giving, corporate and foundation relations, special events and sponsorships, alumni and donor relations, stewardship, and advancement services.

Develop annual plans and budgets, ensure organizational planning and alignment across teams, and create and execute fund raising strategies and plans that utilize best practices to meet fundraising goals.

Perform all duties in an ethical manner and with integrity; maintain the confidentiality of the Agency Leadership and all donor and constituent information; use appropriate discretion in all interactions with internal departments, donors, constituents, and board members; promote/maintain a positive image of BBBSI.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Academic Requirements: Bachelor's degree preferred

Professional Requirements: Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, ideally in human services environment; minimum of 5 years supervisory experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and donor CRM required (Salesforce preferred). You'll have success here if you value clear processes and feel qualified to:
