Senior Specialist-Accounting

While reporting to the Administrative Manager, this role is responsible for all administrative plant functions with a focus on operational support and inventory management.  The ideal candidate should have a solid financial and accounting foundation, strong communication and organizational skills, and exposure to a large-scale ERP (Oracle preferred).  The candidate will hold safety as a core value while also demonstrating the following competencies: “Action Oriented”, “Managing Ambiguity”, “Communicates Effectively”, and “Decision Quality”.  Lastly, the candidate should be proficient in navigating Access and advanced in Excel.

What you will be doing

• Actively engages in plant safety leadership
• Accurate and timely entry of production into Access database; maintenance and investigation as needed
• Lead all aspects of inventory management, including coordination and execution of plant physical counts, cycle counts, and issue research and resolution
• Participate in plant closing activities such as reporting, journals, and ad-hoc analytics
• Act as subject matter expert in Oracle, Access, and MyShopFloor; training and support of plant personnel as needed
• Key member of plant Supply Chain team
• Train on and act as primary backup for Production Planner roles, both planning and scheduling
• Other responsibilities include office supply management, front office organization, receptionist duties, and miscellaneous tasks as needed

This position is located at our Presidents Island facility in Memphis, TN.  PI is one of the largest manufacturing facilities at Sonoco and is a 24/7 manufacturer of metal closures for the snack, powdered beverage, powdered infant formula, and caulk segments.  Sonoco PI offers a family-oriented environment and is a dynamic and strategically important location in which to make an immediate impact and prepare for career advancement in finance, supply chain, or administration.
