WHO WE SEEK
We are seeking a candidate to fill an Advisor role to help manage our Environment, Rights and Global Development portfolio of projects. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience with one or more of these thematic areas, and an understanding of the unique and pivotal opportunities for transformative change in this moment in history. In addition to being an enthusiastic self-starter who has a passion for RPA’s mission and values of integrity, diversity, quality, and trust, and a commitment to excellence, the individual must have a strong nonprofit background with exceptional project management, client service orientation, and the ability to be a strong team participant.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Advisor has a portfolio of assigned fiscal sponsorship projects and is responsible for partnering with project leaders and funders to help drive toward desired project outcomes including leading relationships supported by other team members to handle service transactions related to Finance, HR, and IT. This role will support the messaging and strategy of assigned projects. The Advisor will:
Manage an assigned portfolio of projects, with or without project staff
Manage the relationship between funders and project staff, and as appropriate directly with funders and Advisory Board
Inform and monitor annual operating budget; monthly budget and activities; and financial reports for assigned sponsored projects, in partnership with the Finance
Participate in scheduled operations check-in calls with the executive staff of assigned sponsored projects, as
Lead on developing grant proposals and submitting grant reports
Coordinate and facilitate the on-boarding of new sponsored projects, including collaborating with RPA internal partners to manage expectations for success
Monitor and serve as the liaison for sponsored projects’ inquiries, requests or issues related to support services (Finance, HR, and IT)
Support DEI focus and direction including participating in related consulting engagements
Create and facilitate space for collaboration among projects as well as with the broader sector
Identify potential opportunities for client development and create, review, and submit new business proposals as needed and assigned
Participate and support RPA-wide initiatives that further RPA’s mission
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: BA/BS Degree or equivalent work experience required; Masters preferred;
Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience (with at least 2 years in the environment, rights and global development space)
Skills/ Knowledge
Knowledge and working experience with equity and rights issues
Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written
Strong project management and operations skills
Knowledge of budgeting and reading financial statements
Ability to multi-task and balance the workload of multiple projects and clients
Strong commitment to accuracy and attention to detail
Strong analytical skills; good judgment and ability to function independently
Ability to handle a large and diverse client portfolio
Comfortable engaging with client and staff at all levels
Familiarity with the nonprofit sector, including fiscal sponsorship and grantmaking organizations (Preferred)
