Project Director - Engage - Coordinated Community Response Team

Fontbonne University seeks a Project Director to oversee the Department of Justice (DOJ) Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) grant. 

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • The Project Director will form Fontbonne Engage (Engage), a campus-wide program to combat domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking (DVSAS), and strengthen victim services.
  • The Project Director is a member of our Coordinated Community Response (CCR) team who primarily leads the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Engage.
  • The primary function of Engage is to reduce or eliminate DVSAS incidents on campus and offer trauma-informed services to victims with support for long-term healing. Engage will enhance a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • The Project director will strengthen prevention education, bystander intervention training, and victim services with a collaborative effort of campus personnel, off-campus partners, and off-campus consultant resources.
  • Engage will seek to specifically address the needs of African American women and LGBTQ+ students with inclusive and culturally-sensitive outreach.
  • The Project Director will report to the Director, Counseling and Wellness.

 

NOTE:  This position is grant funded for 3 years. It is a set salary with a built-in increase for years 2 and 3. There is the opportunity to expand the grant beyond year 3.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the ENGAGE Program. 
  • Attend 5 OVW mandated training
  • Ensure programs and services contribute to inclusive excellence

Marketing and Communication - Contribute towards marketing and communication strategies Engage that encourage engagement, skill-building, and positive behaviors

Contribution to the CCR Team - Work closely with other members of the CCR team to effectively collaborate on programs and services to meet strategic objectives. 

Contribution to the Institution and Community - Work closely with other members of the University and Community to collaborate for greater impact.  Actively participate in local, state, and national violence prevention groups.

Working Conditions:   The environment includes a team-based, collaborative atmosphere with synergistic staff. In-person meetings and attendance at programs and events will be required the majority of time. Working some evenings/weekends to reach some audiences may be necessary and work time may be flexed to accommodate within a 40-hour work week.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  No official direct reports, but significant opportunity to share leadership and mentoring of Fontbonne Certified Peer Educators

REQUIREMENTS  

Education:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; Master’s preferred

 

Experience: 

  • 2 years working full-time in a related program or field; knowledge of marginalized populations and mental health issues
  • Experience in a Higher Education setting

 

Skills:  

  • Strong understanding and passion for violence education and prevention 
  • Baseline knowledge in the four areas addressed by the ENGAGE program: alcohol and drug misuse, interpersonal violence, bias, and mental health/suicidality 
  • Leadership and interpersonal skills for engaging a broad group of stakeholders 
  • Marketing and communication skills including an ability to create compelling and effective presentations, promotional materials, and messages for a variety of audiences
  • Ability to quickly assess and problem-solve in complex situations through effective listening, consultation, data analysis and critical thinking skills
  • Strong research and assessment skills
