The Behavioral and Psych Health Clinical Nurse Specialist CNS will perform in five components which includes practitioner, educator, administrator/manager, consultant, and researcher. In addition, the Mental Health Psych Clinical Nurse Specialist CNS will demonstrates a high degree of professional competence in a Behavioral Health Psychiatric nursing and utilizes advanced theoretical and empirical knowledge and a scientific approach to problem solving.
The Mental Health Psych Clinical Nurse Specialist CNS will establish standards for patient care and evaluates interventions to improve care. The Psych Behavioral Health Clinical Nurse Specialist's emphasis on the role components is dependent upon the patient population and the clinical and administrative functions/needs of the unit, Department of Nursing and the HealthSystem. Experience in adult and geriatric psychiatric nursing required.
