Senior Maintenance Specialist(Facilities Services General Maintenance 2 - MR05)

The Senior Maintenance Specialist is responsible for general maintenance, development, and care of over 100,000 square feet of space in the Aquatic and Recreation Center, the equipment and University assets assigned to the Campus Recreation department.
Job functions and responsibilities:
Maintains Campus Recreation Assets
- Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on Aquatic and Recreation Center building features, departmental equipment, and University assets assigned to the Campus Recreation Department
- Recommends repairs, coordinates, and oversees the work of contractors, and works with other departments to ensure all work orders are completed
- Ensures all equipment, vehicles, and tools are maintained and repaired
- Performs scheduled maintenance of over 100 pieces of fitness equipment to ensure safety and quick return to service
- Performs work in a safe and efficient manner
Aquatic Facility Maintenance
- Works with Campus Recreation staff to maintain proper water chemistry and sanitation for the UTC recreational pool and spas
- Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on aquatic equipment
- Completes the maintenance and operations checklists for daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance needs
Inspections and Documentation
- Conducts regular inspections, documents preventative maintenance and repairs, and works with departmental staff to identify, prioritize, and complete projects
- Manages all inter- and intra- departmental work orders
- Utilizes campus and departmental software to track and document projects and repairs
Budgetary Responsibility
- Prepares short and long-range budget data
- Performs ordering and receiving of parts for fitness equipment, departmental equipment, building features, and other departmental assets
- Completes record keeping for purchases and projects
- Ensures all purchasing protocols are followed
Departmental
- Works with departmental staff to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion, and maintains a high level of customer service
- Contributes to the team dynamic and further the departmental mission, vision, and values
- Assists with events as needed and performs other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Knowledge of how to use specialized tools and equipment
- Knowledge of some type of work order system
- Knowledge of building systems including lighting, structural, and plumbing
- Knowledge of pool chemistry
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems
- Carpentry, plumbing, and/or electrical system skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and as a team
- Ability to operate, maintain, and clean equipment
- Ability to operate and perform preventative maintenance and repairs on fitness equipment
- Ability to operate building systems, pool filtration, and sanitation systems
- Ability to acquire Certified Pool Operator Certification or equivalent

Minimum Qualifications:Typically requires a high school diploma and one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Certified Pool Operator or Fitness Equipment Repair Technician; 2 years of general maintenance experience; experience maintaining and repairing fitness equipment; experience working with pumps, motors, and/or HVAC systems; experience working with aquatic pool systems; and experience with carpentry are preferred.
