Boeing Defense Space & Security has an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Real-Time Software Engineer to to join the Special Projects Dallas (SPD) P-8A Advanced Airborne Sensor (AAS) Software Engineering team


located in Richardson, TX. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.


The Boeing Company in Richardson, TX is looking for experienced software engineers to provide full software engineering life-cycle software design, development, integration and maintenance support for the P-8A Advanced Airborne Sensor (AAS) Mission Systems contracts. The candidate will be focused on software engineering activities in support of multiple product lines.


Position Responsibilities


  • Partner with hardware, software, and systems engineering to design, develop, troubleshoot, and test P-8A AAS mission systems software
  • Focus on the system software architecture & design, integrating applications
  • Perform engineering activities in highly integrated and complex computing environments
  • Provide on-site/in-person software systems support, troubleshooting, and related configuration management activities
  • Analyze and implement requirements to ensure system conforms to architectural and cybersecurity objectives
  • Build and maintain software intensive information systems that comply with Risk Management Framework (RMF) security requirements
  • Evaluate and effectively communicate complex system problems and resolution
  • Troubleshoot mission system software, operating system, and installation problems
  • Assists with the development, documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
  • Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system
  • Assists with test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met
  • Supports software project management and software supplier management functions
  • Selects, tailors and deploys processes and tools; establishes metrics
  • Performs software research and trade studies
  • Works under general supervision


This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.


This position requires an active Top-Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)


Basic Qualifications


  • Bachelor s degree or higher in Engineering and/or a Technical discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in embedded real-time software development
  • 3+ years of experience with development of C/C++, Java, and/or Linux Operating Systems


Preferred Qualifications


  • 5+ or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 8+ or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience developing in Java and/or C++
  • Experience in AGILE/DevOps tools and methodologies
  • Experience in Real-Time Algorithm implementation
  • Experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration/execution environment development
  • Operator Machine Interface/User Interface/Open GL development
  • Experience in Development, documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, interfaces and designs for software systems.


Experienced (Level 3)


Typical Education/Experience


Bachelor's degree and typically 5 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 3 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.


Senior (Level 4)


Bachelor's degree and typically 9 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 7 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 4 or more years' experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.


Lead (Level 5)


Bachelor's degree typically 14 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 12 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 9 or more years' experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
