JOB SUMMARY:
We have a unique opportunity for someone passionate about life sciences and role for an Automation Solutions Engineer to join our Automation & Workflow Solutions team.
This role involves building, installing and supporting Molecular Devices robotic integrations for laboratories around the world. The ideal candidate is an independent, fast learner who is self-motivated and wants to advance through the Company. A passion for problem solving, software and robotics and comfortable speaking to customers and stakeholders both technically and professionally is required.
This is a fully remote role located anywhere in the US with travel to the Midwest and San Jose areas.
This is an exciting opportunity to grow and scale Molecular Devices' integration services. You will deploy your mechanical and software skill set to directly impact the quality and design of our automated lab systems. As the technical lead for installation and post-install service and support, you will be responsible for configuring robotic platforms to meet and exceed customer specifications. You will also have the opportunity to grow our service and support footprint by documenting, training and supporting Molecular Devices technical support and field service teams.
KEY RESPONSBILITIES:
Execute automation projects to agreed customer requirements
Review Statements of Work
Provide design input for both software and hardware on integrated platforms
Manage the design, build and deployment of automation platforms
Program and script custom software modules
Ensure safety and accurate performance of our systems
Complete Site and Factory Acceptance Tests
Travel to customer sites to deploy automated laboratory solutions as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
Four-year degree in a technical discipline (Electrical, Computer/Software, Mechanical, Biomedical or similar)
5+ years laboratory automation experience
Current Driver's License and Passport are required.
Basic mechanical and electrical repair skills. Mechanical design and Solid Works experience a plus.
Understanding how to write tools and scripts. C# experience a plus
Familiarity with networking (TCP/IP), databases, XML, serial communication and general understanding of network topologies such as VPNs, firewalls, and routers a plus
