Summary


The Director of Business Operations (DBO) is responsible for effective operational management in the Radiology department. The DBP will report to the Assoc. VP, Imaging Services and Interventional Radiology Services and serve as a member of the Management Team. The DBO will contribute to the development and implementation of organizational strategies, policies and practices, which may affect the short or long-term success of the department. The incumbent in this position will be accountable for managing departmental ancillary functions required for day-to-day operations. The DBO directly supports the AVP who is responsible for the operational and fiscal management of diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology services across all UMHC facilities. This position uses the designated Protected Health Information (PHI) systems as necessary to perform their functions. Employee must adhere to PHI minimum necessary compliance standards at all times.


Organizational Leadership


Contribute to short and long-term organizational planning and strategy as a member of the management team Increase the effectiveness and efficiency of Support Services through improvements to each function (HR, IT, Finance) as well as coordination and communication between functions. Developing goals and objectives, which facilitate the realization of strategic plans. Compiles monthly statistical data on patient volumes and exam room utilization by physicians and clinic site. In addition, compiles any other statistical data as needed. Analyzing statistical information to optimize utilization.


Financial Responsibilities:


Assists AVP, Directors and managers with preparation of capital and annual operating budget for the department. Managing day to day processing of accounts payable Assists the Director, managers and the modality Chief Technologists with capital equipment acquisition. In charge of departmental equipment and supplies purchasing and on-boarding process.


Process Improvement


Responsible for analyzing key quality metrics and monitoring results. Conducts research on assigned projects/issues, identifies course of action and implements an action plan or initiative to meet departmental goals and objectives (for example, improve process, workflows, scheduling and wait times, etc.) for assigned units. Assists in leading process improvement and quality initiatives for assigned units.


Operational Responsibilities:


Manage department equipment inventory. Coordinates processing of departmental equipment service and software contractual agreements Maintain comprehensive inventory data base for department


Technical Responsibilities:


Maintains a high-level of familiarity with systems that support clinical and business functions EPIC/UChart Liaison


Human Resources Responsibilities:


Workday - Initiates and processes the documentation required for all departmental staffing; including but not limited to new hires, terminations, promotions, transfer and leave documentation. Serves as a liaison between the departments and Medical HR in coordinating documentation, actions, disputes, and assists in the resolution of the same. Recommends professional development for staff. Ensures that employees are oriented to the unit and that documentation is maintained Assist in the development of managerial goals and objectives Recruits, orients, trains, develops, manages and evaluates direct reports.


Customer Service Responsibilities:


Reviewing, investigating and responding to patient and physician complaints. Tracks and manages any patient/physician concerns. Meets with the physician and/or patient to ensure resolution Reviewing patient satisfaction surveys, implementing action plans, and monitoring results.

Minimum Qualifications (Essential Requirements):


  • Bachelor s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field.
  • Experience in process development and implementation.
