When it comes to environmental consulting, we're focused on cleaning up our communities today to improve tomorrow. We're seeking an emerging Environmental Compliance Project Manager to oversee projects that support the development and implementation of environmental compliance solutions for our federal clients. You'll apply your technical experience to develop delivery strategies and develop client relationship while championing safety, quality, and the well-being of your team.

Preferably based in southeastern Virginia, you'll be working with other members of our Environmental Solutions team, you'll be the face of Jacobs as you support multi-discipline teams of client and consulting staff in Sustainability and Environmental Compliance projects. You'll provide onsite and remote support to assist clients in addressing today's challenges in Sustainability and Environmental Compliance aspects. Bring your expertise in Environmental Compliance, and Sustainability, and we'll empower you to deliver the boldest solutions for our clients.

You will manage project teams that include junior field and reporting staff, senior technical consultants, and technical subject matter experts, with support from Jacobs internal management. Most tasks may include coordinating field sampling elements (groundwater, soil, well installation, etc.), training activities, materials and supply purchases, various reporting requirements. All tasks need to be delivered with high safety, compliance, and quality standards expected by both Jacobs and our clients.

Your environmental compliance and writing skills will be called upon as you review and write clear and concise reports for clients and regulators. Here's What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Sciences, including, but not limited to, Biologist, Chemical Engineering, Chemist, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or other closely related technical degree with an environmental compliance focus
  • Proven organizational, communication, interpersonal, negotiation, leadership, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated technical evaluation and writing skills
  • Experience in developing, reviewing, and implementing work plans and quality assurance project plans
  • Proven experience developing winning proposals and successfully managing projects with respect to clients, contracts, stakeholders, scope, schedule, budget, diverse teams, quality, risk, change, and profit
  • Experience with small, medium, or large-scale client environmental consulting projects, including environmental compliance projects, and representing clients to stakeholders including regulatory agencies
  • Specific training, knowledge, and experience necessary to identify goals and objectives, and develop, review, and implement various project delivery strategies and plans
  • Proven organizational, communication, interpersonal, negotiation, leadership, and analytical skills
  • Experience as a project manager dealing with all aspects of project delivery, including project statusing of budgets and schedule
  • Experience with project and account management tools and applications, such as cost pricing, project statusing and tracking, and customer account relationship tools
  • Familiarity with state and federal regulations and regulatory processes
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card
Ideally, You'll Also Have:
  • Master's degree in Engineering or Sciences, including, but not limited to, Biologist, Chemical Engineering, Chemist, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or other closely related technical degree with an environmental compliance focus
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Project Management Professional (PMP) or ability to obtain and maintain
  • Professional environmental project experience, including permitting, conducting site trainings, managing EMS, and subcontractor oversight
  • Experience with Sustainability and Environmental Regulatory Compliance
  • Experience in the areas of air permitting; stormwater permitting; wastewater permitting; environmental, sustainability, and governance (ESG), and/or environmental management systems (ISO 14001)
  • Demonstrated business development and client service skills, including ability to identify sales opportunities, lead or participate in sales efforts, close deals, manage scope changes and write proposals
  • Regulatory familiarity with environmental reporting, spill prevention/planning, stormwater, water discharge, emissions, air modeling, waste generation and reduction, carbon reporting, EHS risk management, and/or internal and regulatory auditing
  • Specific training, knowledge, and experience necessary to identify goals and objectives, and develop, review, and implement various strategies and plans
  • Experience with the environmental consulting industry managing DoD projects
  • Located in the southeastern Virginia area or willingness to relocate
  • HAZWOPER certification or ability to obtain and maintain
