Position: Data Science Intern
Target Start Date: Summer 2023
We are looking for a summer intern on our Data Science team. Pivot Bio has an active and ambitious field trialing program which seeks ever-growing support from UAV and satellite data sources. The pace of technology development in the remote sensing space is quick, and the data science team aims to ensure we are always getting the most we can out of remotely sensed data. We are seeking applications for a full-time internship lasting approximately 3 months.
Responsibilities:
Build statistical models of relevant crop phenotypes using remote sensing data gathered from UAV and satellite sources
Keep up to date on newer satellite and UAV data sources
Develop reusable code to perform common operations on remotely gathered data
Communicate clearly to stakeholders in other teams, including Product Innovation and Commercial
Physical Demands:
Job will involve mostly office and computer-based work
Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, or fingers
Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing
Communicating with others to exchange information
Qualifications and Experience
Experience manipulating raster data in Python or R, including loading, visualizing, preprocessing, and creating derived products
Experience with multitemporal analysis of remote sensing data
Familiarity with current space-borne remote sensing products
Familiarity with spatial statistics techniques
Strong Python (preferred) or R skills in data analysis including linear regression
Experience with SAR datasets a plus
