Job/Department Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Director of Philanthropy | Colleges and Units, and in close consultation with the appropriate college deans, the Director of Philanthropy is responsible for planning and implementing individual, multi-year, major gift, and annual leadership giving fund-raising efforts for the colleges. This position is responsible for the identification, qualification, cultivation, and solicitation of prospective and current donors. The successful candidate will be a hands-on major gift and annual leadership gift officer with demonstrated fund-raising experience and capable of handling a portfolio of 150 + suspects and prospects. In addition to front-line fundraising, the director will collaborate with fellow Philanthropy Officers, outreach coordinators and central advancement staff in prospect research, stewardship, and the annual fund. This position expected to secure a minimum of $1.5 million in gifts through a combination of cash, in-kind and bequest gifts.

Mandatory Vaccinations:

The CSU requires faculty, staff, and students who are accessing campus facilities to be fully immunized against COVID-19 or have received a medical or religious exemption. Selected candidates should be prepared to comply with this requirement.

Preferences:

Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills:


  • Bilingual in Spanish.

  • Experience in campaign fund-raising or development, volunteer management, and/or prior employment at an institution of higher education.

  • Possess a Master's Degree.

  • Chico State Alumni.


Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
A minimum of seven-years-experience in major gift, principal gift and annual leadership gift fund-raising for higher education or the non-profit sector.
Demonstrated successful experience soliciting and procuring five, six, seven figure major gifts.
Experience developing written proposals and presentations for major gift solicitations.

Time Base: Full-time


Pay Plan: 12/12

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8-5pm (Remote work may be available)

Salary and Benefits Information:

Salary commensurate with background and experience of the individual selected. (Anticipated hiring salary not to exceed: $115,000 per year).
