From initial concept through final installation, our talented team of designers, writers, filmmakers, fabricators, and project managers creates innovative solutions to fit any project.The Director of Project Management is responsible for providing leadership and oversight to a team of Project Managers, ultimately ensuring successful completion of projects. This position maintains standards for the Project Management Team and regularly meets with the Chief Operating Officer to report on achievements, obstacles, resources, project statuses, and risk management. This position must facilitate a positive, dynamic, collaborative, and inspiring team environment where expectations are clear, and individuals are held accountable. They also serve as the Executive Account Manager on key projects that are critical to the success of the company. PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIESPROJECT MANAGEMENT TEAM RESPONSIBILITIESProvides leadership and support to Project Managers with their projects' day-to-day requirements, priorities, and decisions, addresses changing needs and ensuring all issues are communicated to the Leadership Team.Manages contracts for existing clients, change orders, addendums, and payment schedules with final review by Chief Operating Officer. Advises the COO in the implementation of consistent practices across Project Management. Dedication to staff development, spending significant time working with staff on professional development plans and providing on-the-job training opportunities. Leads the creation, coordination, and communication of the total project portfolio schedule for the Company. Supports Project Managers in communication to Clients on all projects in portfolio through efficient and effective management of client needs, budget, schedule, and any conflicts therein.Use independent judgment to recommend departmental and project objectives, evaluate new approaches to problem solving, and assess changing facts or conditions.LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIESCollaborates with Department Directors to develop, and manage company capacity planning & resource management Support the executives and project managers through the process, and partner with finance on related budgeting and risk management.Develops projects budgets in tandem with COO during proposal phase Supports COO in overall financial tracking, including invoicing, revenue recognition, forecasting, expense report monitoring, and other reporting and analysis required to meet Company financial Ability to develop interpersonal relationships that encourage openness, candor, and trust, both internally and outside of the organization.Manages implementation of contract milestones, schedules, and timelines. Strong capacity for budgeting and understanding Company and project profit Serves on the Leadership Team for the organization, representing the project management team in cross-functional task forces/strategic teams as neededCreativity and the ability to develop innovative solutions to client demands.Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREDStrong strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate big picture strategy into manageable, tactical Demonstrated/Proven ability to successfully lead, coach, and develop othersExcellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to give presentations, develop internal and external deliverables, and represent the Company at community and promotional Understands the design industry, including content, design, media production, and construction.Must have excellent Microsoft Office 365, Adobe Acrobat and QuickBooks Proficiency with project management software such as SmartSheet, and Big Time Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, confidentiality, and in accordance with Solid Light policies and valuesEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREDBachelor's degree in relevant field5+ years directly managing projects2+ years managing a team of two or more required2+ years managing exhibit or other design-build processes Direct experience in museum exhibits, commercial and/or non-profit cultures, design, media production, and construction or some combination is required PMP, Scrum, Agile or other equivalent certification preferredPHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONSCapable of handling a high-stress environmentCapable of lifting a minimum of 25 poundsAbility to travel domestically and internationally by airplane and automobile both overnight and occasional weekendsSolid Light provides a generous benefits package that enhances the entire compensation package.
