The Veterans Affairs business unit helps transform the VA into a modern digital services organization where Veteran outcomes are at the center of every effort. We partner with the Office of the Chief Technology Officer - Digital Experience, the Office of Information Technology, Veterans Health Administration and Veterans Benefits Administration to design and deliver seamless user experiences for Veterans, their Families and Caregivers and VA employees. By applying better practices in service design, product management and technology, we enable VA to increase the usage, throughput, quality and reliability of services and decrease the time Veterans spend waiting for outcomes.
Ad Hoc Project Managers are responsible for keeping programs on timeline, scope, and price. That means everything from high-level project planning such as crafting project milestones, epics, and schedules, to finance projection and reconciliation, to personnel management. You'll ensure that the project has everything it needs to be successful. In this position you will also play a technical role working to sign off on all solutions that are provided to clients.
Requirements
Our Federal contracts require that you be a U.S. Citizen to be eligible for employment.
All work must be conducted within the U.S.
As a government contractor, all hires may be required to meet additional pre-employment contingencies to the extent required by applicable law, at the time of hire or any time thereafter
Years of Experience: 5+ yrs experience in software design & development architecture, or operations.
Degree Requirement: Bachelors Degree
What You'll Do
Ad Hoc Project Managers are responsible for keeping programs on timeline, scope, and price. That means everything from high-level project planning such as crafting project milestones, epics, and schedules, to finance projection and reconciliation, to personnel management. They ensure that the project has everything it needs to be successful and serves a technical role working to sign off on all solutions that are provided to clients.
The Project Manager is responsible for (Essential Functions):
Develops strong customer and partner relationships to understand needs, maximize customer satisfaction, and identify new opportunities
Demonstrates experience managing teams outside of government contracting or experience within a government contracting environment.
Ensures successful execution of contracts
Develops strategic project plans, goals, and approaches
Manages team members in collaboration with the Program Manager
Manages project/program finances
Interviews and on-board new team members and driving the recruitment process
Reports on contract deliverables as needed
Manages contract compliance and risk
Coordinates the administration of timesheets, resourcing, invoicing, reporting, support of growth efforts, and employee requests
Ensures that all systems operate smoothly and, in coordination with QA Manager, align with ISO and CMMI quality standards
In addition to end to end project management for small to moderate projects, the Project Manager will support across related projects under the guidance of a Program Manager or Senior Program Manager.
Additional Responsibilities:
Contract coordination efforts: Verifies invoices, data checks modifications, tracks options exercised and funding as well as roles allocated, deliverable reporting, compliance and risk efforts, etc.
Update of program artifacts: Project plans, employee rosters, status reports, financial trackers, contract trackers, onboarding and offboarding trackers, etc.
Supports team management efforts: Timesheet administration, reporting, employee requests (such as continuing education or expense reports), as well as coordinates/facilitates team building and employee health activities for overall team wellness
Supports recruiting/financial efforts: Tracks open program roles and progresses actions to ensure timely staffing and forecasting
Supports strategic efforts: Supports the development of strategic project plans, goals, and approaches as well as any new or organic coordination efforts
