The NSX Central Quality Engineering team provides an opportunity to promote future networking and NSX's vision for virtualization, specifically including server virtualization in the core network, SDN, and overlay network virtualization. The ideal candidate will be able to work on distributed systems, networking, next-generation firewall, object-oriented programming, and virtualization software. You will be part of a dynamic, passionate, and talented team that likes to challenge the status quo and does not shy away from experimentation. You will lead quality for the next multi-cloud Networking and security features by developing deep technical expertise in critical areas.

As a Senior Quality Engineer, you can own the end-to-end testing of next-generation NSX network virtualization products. You will have a chance to collaborate with development and product marketing teams to ensure a feature is tested from the functional scale system and performance perspectives. You will be given broad problem sets and trusted to implement well-engineered solutions.

You can consider yourself the first customer in the system & scale test team. This allows you to develop a vision of anticipating problems customers will experience before they experience them. You do this by writing/coding comprehensive end-to-end test cases and regular technical interlocks with account teams. We utilize automation to build the test environments and execute the test cases. In addition to end-to-end testing functionality, you will also have the opportunity to think creatively and shape the product features and behavior to create a better user experience for the customer.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes you will work toward completing over the first 6-12 months?

• Within 30 days, become conversant with NSX deployment and test cycle at VMware.
• Within 60 days, get accustomed to NSX product architecture and design, and automation framework, and start testing features by collaborating with your peers.
• Within 180 days, get entrusted with leading projects in your project areas and help team members.
• You will have to establish a reputation of leadership within the team and demonstrates influence within their area of expertise.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing regularly?

• Work on NSX Advanced networking and Next-generation security features controller offered by VMware.
• Be a quality gatekeeper for multi-cloud networking - connectivity and security features for NSX, including SmartNIC, MPLS EVPN, L2VPN/L3VPN, IPV4/IPV6 filtering features
• Develop reliable automation using Python.
• You will use Jira to track your work, Confluence for documentation, Gerrit for code reviews, Slack for a-sync communication, and many other tools that you may already have experience with or can easily pick up.
• Take complete ownership of testing NSX networking and security features by adapting to customer feedback
• Understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture and SaaS-based scalable platforms.
• Understanding of Docker containers and K8s clusters/pods is a plus.

Where is this role located?

Flexible: The role is considered flexible and will be a mix of working from the Palo Alto VMware office and remote, depending on your preferences and arrangements with your future manager. You will be expected to come to the office at least once a quarter for collaboration.
