What you will do - Essential Responsibilities

This Engineer will provide our CarMax associates with an optimal and seamless Salesforce experience. You will be part of the Platform Operations team dedicated to supporting our Product Teams and other Partners in developing and maintaining their Salesforce applications. You will be experienced in complex integrations as part of the Salesforce Ecosystem, and you will be highly proficient in detecting, isolating, and triaging potential platform or application issues.
  • Collaborate with partners in Technology, Product Management and Systems Architecture to influence the development of robust and scalable solutions, to include monitoring and alerting at any sign of degradation in those applications.
  • Be fully versed in modern DevOps best practices including CI/CD to utilize automated pipelines to deploy to multiple Salesforce sandboxes and production.
  • Stay on top of Salesforce and industry trends and best practices to continuously improve what we do and ensure our customer experience is the best it can be.


Purpose of the role

It takes a passion for technology to develop and support ground-breaking products. Working collaboratively and creatively as part of a dedicated Salesforce Platform team, you will be supporting the acceleration of our Product Team's delivery, all while encouraging additional Product Teams to onboard and begin delivering solutions quickly and without technical debt. You will ensure that new functions and features are stable, supportable, and can employ best-in-class SRE concepts.

You will provide the engineering experience required by the Platform Operations Team. Your technical and Salesforce experience will already have taught you what it takes to successfully provide and support multiple teams in making rapid releases. You will possess the strong leadership, relationships and communication that is crucial.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • 5+ years of full stack application development experience required.
  • 8+ years of experience implementing Salesforce custom applications for sales, service, or business office users using the Apex language.
  • Solid understanding of Salesforce custom application design including knowledge of limits, throttling, security, certificates, APIs, etc., on the Salesforce platform.
  • Experience working with and utilizing DevOps practices
  • Experience with agile development teams and practices.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Proven skills and experience mentoring internal and external team members is expected.
  • Strongly proficient in analysis, problem solving and the triage of applications. Working with multiple teams to isolate problems quickly.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Decision Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent alternative education, skills, and/or practical experience is required.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Salesforce Managed Packages
  • Experience with Apex and Lightning frameworks
  • Experience with an API first design paradigm and cloud based hosting
  • Experience with Salesforce customization and administration
  • Experience with DX
  • Experience using Splunk
  • Both Salesforce Admin and Developer Certifications preferred
  • Experience with .NET, Azure platform, and ADO is a plus
  • Experience as a software developer working with product teams.
