Description


  • We are looking for an Engineer to complement our Equipment Engineering activities within the 5G Wireless Deployment and Planning organization at Comcast. Leaning on your history of success, you will support the overall 5G Equipment strategy, process and systems, driving efficiency across the sites, markets, regions, and the organization. In this role, you will work with Wireless Deployment and Planning leaders, vendors and stakeholders to develop and implement a robust Equipment Engineering process from specification, testing, and installation ensuring value and transparency for all.

  • This individual will play a critical role in shaping the future of our 5G network requirements and should be both detail-oriented and capable of thinking strategically about the big picture. They will be responsible for dissecting complex problems that the business is facing, while also identifying future improvements to ensure the organization operates in a best-in-class manner.



RESPONSIBILITIES


  • What you'll be doing... Define, engineer, and resolve network capacity requirements for Comcast's 5G network utilizing high capacity next generation technologies to meet network services capacity, vulnerability, diversity, and growth requirements. Specific responsibilities include :

  • Perform detailed equipment engineering for network deployment. This includes developing all of the specifications required for installation forces to properly install, turn-up, inventory, and configure the equipment, obtaining appropriate management approvals, issuing purchase orders, creating applicable diagrams / drawings, and ensuring vendor delivery.

  • Ensure that work meets all applicable engineering, financial, planning, and operational standards.

  • Develop Bill of Material and place orders for network equipment, rack, and hardware requirements.

  • Define all equipment requirements

  • Order all spares required based on sparing plan or directed by capacity management.

  • Manage, input, and update central Network Inventory Database to reflect new builds, adds, and modifications.


PREFERRED SKILLS


You'll need to have :


  • Bachelor's degree or Six or more years of work experience.

  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Eight years of progressive, technical experience.

  • Experience in Equipment Engineering and / or RF Engineering, Installation, Implementation.

  • Experience Testing in one (or more) of the following Wireless technologies : Samsung, Ericsson, Nokia, Ciena, Fujitsu, Cisco, AWS and 5G RAN platforms. Even better if you have one or more of the following :

  • A degree in engineering, networking, computer, telecommunications or equivalent job-related experience.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suites and drawing complex system diagrams using CAD-based software like Microsoft Visio.

  • Inside Plant Engineers (ISP) with ICON experience.

  • Able to work well with others (as a team) and individually (on your own projects) with a positive attitude.

  • Communication skills and the ability to multitask.



PREFERRED SKILLS


  • Ability to travel a minimum of 50% and up to100% and work remotely with minimum guidance, daily assignments, independently or with a team.

  • Ability to meet / speak with various internal customers and vendors to gain an understanding of their architecture, systems, objectives, etc. and then determine the best solution most appropriate for their environment.

  • Hands-on experience working with servers (Linux).

  • Network certifications or hands on experience with multiple OEM solutions.

  • RF knowledge, 4G/5G and CBRS wireless solutions.

  • Excellent teamwork mindset and ability to collaborate with various team members of other internal groups.
