NOV Wellbore Technologies is actively recruiting a Quality Management Systems Engineer for our Cedar Park, Texas facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the conformance of our Quality Management System to ISO 9001:2015 expectations and other industry standards and ensure its effectiveness. This candidate will gain an understanding of system level process issues and will develop and implement effective countermeasures to ensure conformance to customers’ and conformance to industry expectations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide Quality Management Systems engineering support .
  • Ensure compliance with the site Quality Management System based on ISO 9001:2015, ISO80079-34, and API Q1.
    • Maintain a working knowledge of government and industry quality codes and standards.
    • Lead, plan and coordinate external audits and conduct internal audits of processes and management systems.
  • Provide input into organizational quality-related goals and objectives.
  • Formulate or assist in formulating quality control policies and procedures.
  • Improve, design, and implement processes and systems related to ensuring conformance to quality, delivery, and cost expectations of our customers and industry standards.
  • Prepare reports to communicate involvement and results of activities.
  • Lead efforts in root cause analysis and improvements.
    • Act as a catalyst for change and improvement in performance.
    • Manage corrective-actions-preventive-actions, ensuring those assigned understand the CAPA process and are successful in addressing issues.
    • Effectively utilizing personal influence to accomplish preventive and corrective actions.
  • Strive to develop new skills and knowledge within the industry by attending seminars, reading professional publications, and leading conferences.
  • Develop working relationships with operators, engineers, managers, and other personnel.
  • Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
    • Observe safety regulations, wear all required safety equipment, encourage safe working practices, correct obvious hazards immediately, or report them to supervisors and Safety managers.
    • Ensure that systems, processes, and products comply with safety regulations.
  • Provide responsive quality support and perform other work-related tasks as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Scientific discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience working is a manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years of working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 (is required) and ISO 80079-34 (is preferred) 2+ years of indirectly leadership.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of machining, fab & weld, and electromechanical assembly
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, TOC, or similar types of methodologies
  • ASQ Certifications in Quality Engineering, Six Sigma, or Auditing
  • Background in the application of Statistics, Probability, and/or Combinatorics
    • Knowledge of Minitab or similar type of software
  • JD Edwards ERP experience
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in a skilled industrial trade
  • Ability to travel 5%

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Ability to generate procedures and working instructions that comply with ISO 9001:2015, API Q1 (preferred), API Q2 (preferred), and ISO 80079-34 (preferred) standards
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications
  • Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
