The Forbes office is currently remote. The expectation will be for this role to be based out of Jersey City when that staff returns.
A data focused manager to lead a team of data scientists and engineers in exciting, creative projects and R&D initiatives. The Data Products team is focused on leveraging data, machine learning and AI in our CMS and user-facing website to drive quality writing from our writers, and an amazing experience for our readers.
Primary Role
Lead the Data Products engineering team from ideation, research and implementation of data-intensive projects. Participate in SCRUM and planning. Meet with stakeholders regularly to establish new goals and projects. Bring an enthusiasm for data and new ideas regularly.
Core Competencies
Experience in management or in a lead engineer type role.
Have a technical background, with familiarity in Go, Python or Javascript.
Have experience with a major cloud platform (GCP a plus), serverless technologies a big focus.
Track record of developing and shipping cool data-driven products. with an entrepreneurial spirit.
General Skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Coaching, mentorship, presenting and teaching a plus.
Project and themes include:
Provide content recommendations to readers to lift engagement metrics
Dream up and ship features in the CMS that help our 3000+ contributor network write better, engage readers better, SEO better.
Work closely with business intelligence, editorial, and product on initiatives such as first-party ad targeting data, recommendations, subscriptions, experimentation.
