Senior Application Software Engineer-Remote

Position Purpose: Design, build, test and maintain scalable and stable off the shelf application or custom built technology solutions to meet business needs. Act as a subject matter expert for Application Software developers and Engineers. This is a Sr. Application Software Developer on our Capitation team.

Contribute to the entire implementation process including driving the definition of improvements based on business need and architectural improvements

Meet with business partners to understand business needs

Responsible for overall design of the solution

Conduct root cause analysis and advanced performance tuning for complex business processes and functionality

Design and implement solutions for business problems following Centene defined architectural guidelines and control standards

Translate functional requirements into technical requirements and design

Research and evaluate alternative solutions and recommends the most efficient and cost-effective solution for a new or existing design

Handle and triage application issue escalations as well as able to liaise with clients / operations

Provide support to functional and performance Test teams as part of each agile sprint

Provide production support as necessary

Create documentation in the form of quick reference guide and user manual

Create and maintain process documents to facilitate smooth handover to production support teams

Support and train developers in team as need it

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, related field or equivalent experience. 3+ years of related experience. Healthcare experience strongly preferred, requires demonstrated understanding of business process as it relates to experience in the field. HIPAA Healthcare EDI Transaction sets (required), EDI Mapping toolsets (preferred), AMISYS (required), SQL (required), SSIS packages (preferred), Oracle (required), SQL Server (required), Unix (preferred), Teradata (required)

Preferred Experience:

• Ability to independently drive execution, customer focused, professionally communicate to different audiences, be flexible and adaptable and demonstrate ability to solve complex problems.
• Hands-on DevOps experience using tools like Gitlab, Cloud bees/Jenkins, Maven
• Strong experience in developing, refactoring and re-engineering web applications using REST, Spring/Spring Boot, Hibernate, React JS, Handlebars, JSP, JSON, XML and Html
• Experience using PL/SQL and Oracle database; Mongo DB and PostgreSQL, SQL tuning experience is a plus
• Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix operating system and shell scripting
• Knowledge on cloud development like Kubernetes, message processing using Kafka topics, CI/CD pipeline, Docker Container Platform is an advantage
• Knowledge on job/ MicroService monitoring using Grafana, Kibana is preferred
