Business Operations:

Our Business Operations team includes a rock star team of strategic thinkers responsible for coming together to unleash our stores and employees' full potential in a very fast-paced environment. Whether we are launching a new business models and initiatives, optimizing our existing processes, or supporting the store's day-to-day activities, this team is relentlessly focused on enabling world-class operations, delighting our clients, employees, and partners, serving as a true voice for our stores.

Your role at Sephora:

The Director, Business Operations will oversee product and people operations across our fleet of stores. This role is responsible for bringing new initiatives and our store operating model to life through oversight of creation and optimization of policies, procedures, training, and execution across key operational workstreams. In addition to the free-standing stores, this role will oversee product and pricing operations at our Sephora at Kohls stores.

Partnering with most Sephora departments, this leader must drive process excellence, maximizing productivity and optimizing workload through our payroll and budget investments in stores. This leader will regularly meet with and present to senior executive leadership across most business functions. They must be able to articulate operational benefits and risks of proposed changes and influence key partners to shift strategies to drive efficiency and a positive client and employee experience.

This leader must work closely within their direct team to develop skills and drive excellence in project and program management, quality deliverables, clear communication, and program execution and analysis while meeting key deadlines. They must ensure the voice of the store is always represented in program planning, design, execution, and change management to ensure adoption of changes in stores and drive this mindset with their team and peers.

Business functions supported by this team include:
  • Inventory management processes and store system management including tools and reporting
  • Loss prevention processes and policy management
  • Merchandise management including brand and product launches and updates, price changes, visual standards
  • Store organizational planning, including leadership structure design and optimization
  • People management processes and systems supporting HR, Talent and Acquisition, Benefits, and Labor Planning
  • Business administration including cleaning services, store supplies, store safety, uniform management, store hours, treasury, and office management
  • Strategy and development of trainings that support store retention and accountability
  • Developing a team of managers and associate project managers; responsible for building out succession planning and retention strategy
We're excited about you if you have:
  • 10+ years of retail operations experience in varying capacities including process design, optimization, and change management planning
  • 5+ years of experience leading teams in retail operating functions
  • Obsession with designing pragmatic and streamlined operations and process improvement leveraging a design-thinking mindset.
  • Experience leading optimization programs with measurable financial outcomes from concept through successful rollout.
  • Expertise in change management methodology with an ability to effectively communicate up, down, and across the organization, with stores, and with field leaders.
  • Ability to influence business partners at the executive level as well as field/store teams
  • Strong decision quality that is objective and data oriented.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, work ethic, and work product quality
  • The ability to work in a highly matrixed organization supporting both corporate and field/store partners
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects being executed by all team members and an ability to speak intelligently about all in flight and upcoming projects
  • Flexibility and adaptability to pivot daily responsibilities as business demand changes
  • Experience building, motivating, and leading high performing teams
  • The ability to travel to stores and field leadership meetings up to 25% of the time
