Hitachi Energy is seeking a Commodity Manager for its North America Supply Chain team. This role is responsible for effectively translating the Business Line category strategy at the regional level, and drive regional execution, continuous improvement (CIPS) activities to support Hitachi Energy North America Transformer business objectives. This is a US remote, home-based position that will require up to 30% travel, both regionally and nationally.
Your responsibilities
- Deliver all Procurement and Logistics (PL) regional targets: cost reduction via EM sourcing, e-sourcing (and other approaches), supplier classification maps, Synchronix (synchronized) negotiations, coordinated project management activities, supplier payment terms, lead-time reductions and supplier performance targets for on-quality and on-time.
- Perform total cost of ownership (TCO) sourcing activities and run risk mitigation actions
- Collect and rationalize inputs from factories to feed into sourcing strategy
- Regularly communicate strategy including quarterly CIPS reviews and negotiations results to factories in the region
- Support factory implementation of the strategy in a timely manner
- Drive selected regional or factory level SCM projects
- Actively support factories in emerging market (EM) sourcing activities
- Lead supplier qualification and supplier performance evaluation for in-scope regional suppliers
Your background
- Bachelor degree in supply chain management, business, business-related or engineering and twelve (12) or more years relevant experience. Candidate must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States
- 3-5 years of category management experience in a complex environment
- Demonstrated advanced project management skills for multi-discipline projects
- Six Sigma, CPSM or other relevant certifications preferred
- Extensive knowledge of fabrication, machining and welding and understanding of the transformer
- Supplier cost structure knowledge and experience preferred
- Multilingual a plus
