Summary:
- Provide direction, guidance and coordination for enterprise projects and initiatives assigned to the Project Management Office (PMO)
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and training for project participants and other teams within the organization
- Understand the Company's operating model, products, areas of expertise and Guiding Principles
- Lead cross-functional teams to drive breakthrough performance improvement on large projects that require a broad knowledge of the Company's operations and business model
- Ensure projects are integrated with other business activities, improvement projects and business strategy
- Ensure processes, tools and systems are field-ready prior to deployment
- Identify project management coordination process gaps utilizing a plus/delta methodology
- Manage project initiation activities that include identifying contractual obligations, client needs and goals, existing situation, necessary contacts, and access to existing information as needed
- Review plans to determine costs, timeline, funding, staffing requirements and goals.
- Develop project plans outlining project scope, activities, schedules, deadlines and cost/time estimates
- Deliver informational and decision-seeking presentations to business groups
- Assign project team members to various project activities
- Manage project risks, issues/problems, and activity progress to ensure project goals (e.g. deadline, scope, and quality) are achieved. Assists with problem resolution or risk mitigation as needed
- Conducts project closure activities to formalize and communicate the project acceptance, hand off ongoing activities and complete a post implementation review to identify areas of improvement or that worked well.
- Conducts hands on management and project interaction, must be able to manage, facilitate and delegate generally without direct line authority.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in a related discipline.
- 2-4 years' experience in project management in financial services (preferred) or a related industry.
- Active Project Management Professional (PMP) designation
- Knowledge of various types of project methodologies and life cycles (e.g. agile, classic or traditional waterfall phases of analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation) and the correct project application.
- Extensive knowledge and skill in project management standards, processes, procedures, and guidelines.
- Adept at simultaneously managing multiple projects (4+ projects)
- Knowledge of industry project management best practices.
- Possess strong virtual meeting facilitation and communication skills that fosters an environment of mutual respect
- Must be able to apply project management knowledge (perform) using high quality interpersonal skills while performing related project activities
- Must be open, engaged and willing to transfer tacit and explicit knowledge to and from team members
- Knowledge of communications/escalation management.
- Knowledge of the risk and issues management process and techniques, including risk identification, quantification, and risk response (e.g. acceptance, mitigation, avoidance, risk response control).
- Skill in utilizing project management software to manage projects (e.g. MS Project)
- Skill in clearly defining clients' business, fiscal, and functional objectives for the project and then preparing a scope statement that summarizes the project justification, major deliverables, and project objectives.
- Demonstrated skill in managing budgets and timelines of small to large sized projects.
- Skill in facilitating risk/issue tracking meetings
- Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
- Skill in managing change to project scope
- Responsible for business research, analysis, and documentation to support for internal groups, vendors, and senior personnel.
