Position:                           Senior Manager, Mechanical Engineering (PEAK EFO & Maintenance Systems)



Location:                          Atlanta office or a Newell Brands manufacturing or distribution center.



Reports to:                       Director, Engineering and Global Process Optimization



 



The Mechanical Engineering Sr. Manager will lead and support all aspects of mechanical engineering activities.  A key aspect will be the development and global deployment of Mechanical engineering standards and policies that conform to global, national, and local governmental regulations for factories and DCs. The Mechanical Engineering Sr. Manager will partner with BUs and other engineering disciplines to develop a strategic view to support Newell’s vision to leverages best in class technologies.  This includes developing the programs for designing, testing, installing, and maintaining mechanical equipment and devices. The role will build an overall framework and partner with the BUs to help lead the fabrication, operation, application, installation, maintenance and/or repair of mechanical systems and devices. Also, this individual will match solutions to needs through the application of appropriate technologies for custom or standardized initiatives.



Specific Responsibilities




  • Identify and execute transformational projects in conjunction with BU supply chain teams for mechanical systems.

  • Evaluate existing and emerging technologies for Newell applications

  • Develop vendor partnerships and common solutions for rapid reapplication

  • Develop cost proposals, efficiency studies, and quality control reports.

  • Develop equipment specifications for deployment and use.

  • Soliciting quotations, qualifying suppliers, and selecting equipment vendors.

  • Implementing automated processes to reduce labor dependency.

  • Act as liaison between Design, Manufacturing and Distribution for mechanical systems and components 

  • Pilot and debugging manufacturing processes and mechanical systems for production-based environments.

  • Recommend physical changes to manufacturing locations to support equipment installation.

  • Support our business units with planning and directing all aspects of mechanical engineering activities.

  • Ensure all mechanical engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are executed in conformance with Newell Brands established policies and objectives for industrial mechanical systems

  • Support the business units and sites with the design of products such as assembly machines, instruments, controls, robots, etc.

  • Define the data collection and analytics practices for identifying opportunities, measuring progress, and ensuring controls are in place after implementation.

  • Manage cross-functional project team members to ensure delivery of project milestones and achieve expected productivity objectives, often with indirect authority or peer relationships.

  • Propose and trial new methods / processes with the goal of replicating best practices across all applicable operations

  • Provide guidance and professional development to engineers.



The Candidate



Key Qualifications:




  • BSME or University degree, MBA preferred.

  • 10+ years relevant experience in electrical systems engineering with a proven track record of delivering value in manufacturing and/or logistics. 

  • 3+ years of engineering leadership experience managing direct reports.

  • Strong character – ability to champion the right decision in difficult situations.

  • Demonstrated track record of effectively building partnerships as well as managing and resolving challenges.

  • Intermediate level skills developing analysis in Excel, PowerBI, PowerPoint and/or MS Access.

  • Strong planning & organizing skills. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously.

  • Initiative & follow-up, including a strong sense of autonomy.

  • Ability to travel up to 70% to factory and distribution center locations across the US and with a possibility of Internationally.
