Summary of Position

The Senior Network Engineer provides technical leadership and is responsible for identifying and evaluating software and hardware technologies and provides recommendations and policies for integrating new technologies into the enterprise including design, standards, and implementation approaches for the company's systems, network and infrastructure. This individual leads planning and deployment for Network project solutions technologies considering key factors such as their long-term effectiveness, practicality, technical limitations, information & system security, and criticality. This individual will lead or contribute to designs applied to all aspects of business systems and/or infrastructure prototypes and eventual implementation. Performs work of high complexity and derives logical processes based on technical platforms. This individual leads the technical team in performing integration testing, problem analysis, business and technical analysis. He/she provides technical guidance and mentorship to other technical resources at MacroGenics.

Responsibilities and Job Duties

• Manages, configures, and administers of advance network routing infrastructure - to support hybrid on-prem and cloud environment.
• Manages network change requests configuration to switches, routers, and firewalls plus how to troubleshoot complex networking issues
• Maintains and troubleshoots all network technologies including switches, routers, wireless, ISP connections, and WAN connections.
• Establishes and maintains networks, servers, and systems by designing, proactively managing, and troubleshooting network problems
• Provides scheduled network maintenance, addresses outstanding concerns, and aids with project implementations when appropriate at all corporate sites
• Manages the identity management systems including Single Sign On (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) technologies including Azure AD and other technologies
• Acts as the escalated line of support for complex IT support issues from engineering group, technical resources, and employees
• Provides timely and accurate communications with other parts of the organization regarding IT projects, timelines, and compliance
• Researches, identifies and recommends new technologies and solutions to support the IT and corporate goals
• Participates in the selection, validation, implementation, and training of corporate and IT systems and other processes in collaboration with managers, and other departments, as needed
• Provides quality review of documents, as necessary
• Maintains personal awareness and proficiency in new technologies and industry trends
• Applies latest critical and security patches to Servers and appliances and upgrade server applications.
• Monitors, manages, and tests system backups to support business continuity, data retention and corporate requests
• Ensures that all policies and procedures are met to ensure regulatory compliance and updates or creates procedures to address potential gaps.Works with technical resources and other team members to solve advanced technical problems
• Provides administration and maintenance of production Servers running Windows and Linux in a 24x7x365 environment
• Supports VMWare or Microsoft virtualization (Hyper-V) technologies, Microsoft Exchange Online, Azure, Teams, Office 365, and SharePoint Online

Minimum Qualifications

Education, Certifications

• Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems or a related field
• Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator

Experience

• Eight (8) years of experience supporting the acquisition, administration, configuration, installation, and troubleshooting of network infrastructure and security components

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Strong knowledge of OSPF and BGP routing protocols and networking technologies
• Strong knowledge of cloud architecture and service offerings (AWS, Azure, GCloud)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills - ability to effectively represent Information Systems in various internal and external meetings
• Comprehensive knowledge of support of Microsoft Exchange Online, Teams, Office 365, and SharePoint Online
• Strong experience with design principles for enterprise networks (Cloud/On Prem) with focus on operational stability and flexibility
• Possesses expert knowledge of routing/switching/SDN technology, cloud network services.
• Strong knowledge with Microsoft Azure management via portal and PowerShell
• Hands-on experience configuring network Switches via CLI to support advance configurations
• Familiarity with GAMP practices or similar risk-based compliance guidelines
• Ability to manage several high-priority, fast-paced activities within required timelines
• Ability to create quality work in a timely fashion
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, but seek appropriate involvement from senior management regarding complex issues beyond position scope
• Ability to travel as needed to perform maintenance at remote corporate locations. Requires traveling to our site in South San Francisco at least twice a year as well as regular visits to two locations in Rockville
