Idaho Department of Water Resources (IDWR) is offering an exciting opportunity for an individual to impact water management and water supply resiliency statewide. The position is an Engineer, Technical 1 assigned to the Planning and Projects Bureau based in the IDWR state office in Boise, Idaho. It is open to engineers who have obtained their Professional Engineer licensure.

This individual will work with a team assigned to carry out the State of Idaho's water resource programs and initiatives on behalf of the Idaho Water Resource Board (IWRB). The position provides a unique opportunity to develop and carry-out your engineering career, while working on and managing water projects needed to stabilize Idaho's aquifers and ensure water sustainability for current needs and future economic growth. • Manage development of water resource and supply projects on behalf of the IWRB from feasibility to construction
• 
  Manage one or more projects to increase Idaho's surface water storage in cooperation with partner agencies and stakeholders
• 
  Assist with operating managed aquifer recharge program and provide recommendations for managed recharge infrastructure and other aquifer stabilization projects for the Eastern Snake Plain Aquifer
• 
  Manage the design and construction of aquifer recharge infrastructure projects, or significant portions of projects, in coordination with contractors and water user partners
• 
  Identify strategies for stabilization of other aquifers statewide and carry out those strategies
• 
  Review, analyze, and provide recommendations regarding water projects proposed to be accomplished through loan or grant agreements
• 
  Monitor construction progress of water projects financed through loan or grant agreements
• 
  Work in a team setting with internal staff, engineering consultants, project partners, and others during a project
• 
  Represent IDWR and the IWRB at meetings and conferences
• 
  Provide engineering and other technical assistance as needed for the Planning and Projects Bureau
• 
  May supervise professional and/or technical staff

Licensure:

• 
  
  Licensed in Idaho as a Professional Engineer (PE), or eligibility for comity licensure by the Idaho Board of Professional Engineers in accordance with Idaho Code, Title 54, Chapter 12
• 
  Valid Driver's license

• 
  Coordinating with state and local government operations in the area of water planning and project development
• 
  Evaluating engineering projects and making decisions relative to their merit
• 
  Writing engineering reports and related correspondence
• 
  Reviewing engineering analyses
• 
  Making oral presentations to groups relative to the merits of engineering applications

• 
  Experience applying engineering principles and practices to water planning and projects development

• 
  Some knowledge of hydrology, water rights, water resource management, and/or agriculture
• 
  Construction Management experience with all phases of construction projects, including the planning, design, and construction of water resource projects
• 
  Knowledge of project management principles and project management software

Working Conditions

The work is performed in an office. Periodic field visits to project sites may be required and may involve walking over rough terrain, exposure to variable weather conditions, and lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds. Out-of-town and occasional overnight travel is required.
