Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Material Process Engineer OR a Senior Principal Material Process Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Oklahoma City, OK.

The selected candidate will be responsible for analyzing, researching, and developing materials and their related application processes for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems.

The candidate will apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material science to investigate material issues and provide solutions as well as work in a team environment with other engineering organizations performing detailed technical reviews of drawings, specifications, and manufacturing plans.

This position will require some travel to Palmdale, CA and can be filled at either the Principal Material Process Engineer OR Senior Principal Material Process Engineer level.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Material Process Engineer:

Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 5 years of relevant experience; or a Master’s Degree in a STEM field with 3 years of related experience; OR a PhD in a STEM field with 0 years of related experience.
Familiar with CMCs, composite pre-pregs, honeycombs, and adhesive materials
Fabrication, assembly, and repair processes for aircraft composite structures,
Familiar with metallic materials and processes
This position requires the ability to obtain a DOD Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Basic Qualifications for a Senior Principal Material Process Engineer:

Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 9 years of relevant experience; or a Master’s Degree in a STEM field with 7 years of related experience; OR a PhD in a STEM field with 4 years of related experience.
Familiar with CMCs, composite pre-pregs, honeycombs, and adhesive materials
Fabrication, assembly, and repair processes for aircraft composite structures,
Familiar with metallic materials and processes
This position requires the ability to obtain a DOD Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Preferred Qualifications for both levels:

Current Top Secret DOD clearance
Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or related field.
Experience with working on military aircraft
Experience preparing and presenting oral and written reports
Experience with material Obsolescence issues and qualifying materials
Experience with LO materials

Salary Range: $75,400 USD - $113,200 USD
Salary Range 2: $93,500 USD - $140,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
