Title: Sr. Software Design Engineer / Embedded Real-Time Engineer
Location: Orland Park, IL
Duration: Direct Hire
Salary: 100k - 170k
Develop, maintain, and test high-performance embedded real-time industrial systems for the packaging industry. Responsibilities will include designing digital and mixed-signal circuitry, incorporating FPGAs (VHDL), microprocessors and microcontrollers. Position requires experience developing real-time embedded systems, high speed digital and mixed-signal interfaces.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiar with industry standard interfaces: I2C, SPI, PCIe
- Experience with digital design and analog/mixed-signal design
- Able to work independently on circuit board development from initial concept to schematic capture through PCB layout, BOM and design verification in the lab
- Experience with development of Xilinx or Intel FPGAs in VHDL or Verilog
- Experience with simulation and testbench development for verifying an FPGA design
- Experienced with LTSpice or PSpice
- Proficient at SMD soldering for prototypes
- Proficient with lab equipment: oscilloscope, logic analyzer
- Good documentation skills
- Familiar with board support software packages, C/C++
- Develop microcontroller applications and lab/production test utilities in C
- Experience in an electronic product design and development process, change management (ECO), reliability test, compliance test (performance, environmental and certification), and manufacture test
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
- 5+ years work experience in a design role
- Proficient in VHDL and C
- Experienced in digital and mixed-signal hardware design
- Highly motivated, organized, resourceful and persistent
- Ability to work independently and think creatively to solve problems
- Able to manage multiple technical responsibilities simultaneously
- Knowledge of development of Xilinx FPGAs, Intel FPGAs
- Experienced with EDA design tools (esp. Altium Designer or Ki-CAD a plus)
- Experience with PCIe a plus
