Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking Expert Electrical System Design Engineer to join the team in defining and integrating airplane electrical systems across our commercial fleet. All projects center on the translation of concepts and high-level requirements to specific architectures and operational specifications including the physical integration of electrical systems and components into our complex airplanes. Work with a worldwide supplier base to implement system hardware and software. Validate designs through both laboratory and airplane testing. Work with aircraft systems from initial concept through certification, delivery, and through their production life. We are continually evolving the state of the art in commercial air transport.

Primary Responsibilities:

This role will be responsible for providing cross functional technical Responsibility, Accountability, and Authority (RAA) assurance across all of our products.  This will include but not limited to the following; Emerging issue resolution and technical excellence, Oversight for cross functional requirements, Development Assurance, Technical BPSM quality. Resolve in-service issues coordinating with the Fleet Support Office in the customer support organization using the Service Related Problem (SRP) process and fleet and production health.

  • Leads work with customers and suppliers to develop and document electronic and electrical system objectives in order to resolve complex in-service issues coordinating with the Fleet Support Office in the customer support organization using the Service Related Problem (SRP) process.
  • Leads work with various functional and partner organizations to develop production health improvements and corrective actions following the Boeing Problem Solving Model (BPSM).
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships across various functional and partner organizations acting as a liaison between the different stakeholders.
  • Leads analysis and translation of complex requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications.
  • Leads testing and validation work on complex system designs to assure that operational and functional requirements are met.
  • Works with others to develop program test strategies.
  • Manages performance of critical suppliers to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.
  • Conducts program independent reviews and reports results to program leadership.
  • Provides critical support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.
  • Leads research into technology advances for potential application to company business needs.
  • Recognized as a business unit-wide expert in process development and qualification, physical and functional integration and installation design and resolving supplier technical issues.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.  U.S. Person includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

 Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • Experience with systems engineering and integration of complex systems
  • Experience leading through influence and partnering with cross-functional teams on projects and initiatives
  • 9+ years of experience in an engineering discipline.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with leadership and project management skills
  • Experience with or a desire to learn Agile project management methods
  • Knowledge of FAA certification.
  • Experience with system design and integration during an airplane development program.

Typical Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and typically 9 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 7 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 4 or more years' experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only.  Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range: $128,350 - $173,650
