Job Description:

The Commercialization Business Manager will support Intermountain's mission and vision by fostering the commercialization of internally created innovations that can transform healthcare at Intermountain and beyond. This is an enterprise-wide role within the Intermountain Foundry innovation team that works closely with the Intellectual Property Office and Intermountain Ventures to help maximize the impact and value derived from breakthrough healthcare innovations that are developed and licensed to external partners. Working as a liaison between outside technology licensees and internal stakeholders such as inventors and clinical/business teams, this position will manage existing technology licenses and related contract activities. It will also work closely with the innovation team to increase potential licensing opportunities while working with licensees and prospects to expand the adoption of Intermountain technologies.

Collaborating with the legal team and others, key responsibilities include overseeing and managing all post-transaction license contract activities and ensuring license compliance with contract terms and business obligations. This includes managing post-contract negotiations, such as amendments and renewals, as well as supporting licenses that have ongoing joint collaboration activities. Further, this position oversees the financial management of license-related income, budgeting, expenses and distribution, and it manages contract processes and related documentation while facilitating clear communications among internal and external stakeholders.

To be effective, the Commercialization Business Manager will also provide customer support to licensees and/or end users to maximize customer success. When needed, this will include managing and facilitating customer implementation and set-up, training, and initial support for licensed products and services. The position will also develop close relationships with licensees and work with them to solve problems and manage relations, and to better understand their market and customer needs to adjust commercialization strategies and to provide internal feedback for improved product offerings.

Additional responsibilities include business development activities that increase revenue and impact for existing licensees and Intermountain. Working independently and under the direction of licensing managers and the Foundry Director, this position will apply an entrepreneurial mindset to expand the technology licensing portfolio by prospecting for, marketing to, and closing new non-exclusive innovation licensees, and it will work with licensees as needed to provide marketing and sales support that drives growth for those licenses. In addition, this role may collaborate with Intermountain Ventures to support spin-off companies that are formed to commercialize Intermountain technology.

As needed, the Commercialization Business Manager will also undertake occasional product and project management responsibilities that include managing licensed products and services for improvements, updates and other business needs, and providing project management to assist ongoing collaborations and the timely performance of deliverables.
