Senior Java Engineer - Opportunity for Working Remotely

You will be engaged in cutting-edge designing, problem-solving and troubleshooting of large-scale SaaS microservices utilizing java, spring framework, modern CI/CD pipelines, unit testing and automation tools, SQL/NOSQL datastores and AWS and many other technologies.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

• Within first 30 days of employment, complete developer onboarding, understand coding standards and SDLC processes, and most importantly accomplish your first piece of work. You will work closely with engineering, product, design, and security teams.
• Within first 60 days of employment, drive design, security, quality, development, and production deployment of a medium complexity feature. Start shadowing for on-call rotation, develop understanding of operational support and increase domain knowledge.
• Within the first 90 days of employment, drive execution of a high complexity feature with help from teammates who you will mentor. Start doing on-call rotation for operational support and demonstrate considerable domain knowledge of all micro services within hub services family.
• Within 365 days, along with the above, be well positioned in leading discussions with product on future directions for product, innovating, making a significant difference to broader EUC team with your contributions.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

• Design and architect solutions for Hub services digital employee experience and workflows teams.
• Design and develop SaaS microservices utilizing a variety of available managed services running on AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Be a hands-on engineer; ensure software built is well designed with high quality that delights customers
• Ensure security is engraved into our solution
• Instrument your code to collect metrics for monitoring and supportability
• Review your peers' code and help ensure it adheres to our standards
• Interview and mentor engineers to build a strong engineering bench. Promote a culture of innovation, pride, performance, and disciplined execution
• Help recruit and maintain excellent and diverse engineering talent

This role reports to Kartik Patel, Sr. Manager of Engineering, End User Computing Business Unit at VMware. Kartik leads the Hub services digital employee experience and workflows teams for Workspace ONE at EUC. Kartik's teams are responsible for product architecture and development as well as SaaS operations. This team is diverse and globally dispersed with the reputation of being forward-looking with a strong focus on making customers successful. Remote: This role is fully remote in USA, allowing you the flexibility to work from the location you feel most productive and comfortable. You will be expected to live within 0-4 time zones of the primary location.
