Job Description



The team that you d be joining is working at the forefront of an incredibly exciting and complex Shopify product. These are the folks who plan the capabilities of Shopify Logistics, including materials, inventory, capacity and demand planning. We ensure our merchants have the right products in the right place at the right time, and our nodes have the right plans and resources in place to ship it quickly.



The focus right now is on optimizing our shipping efficiencies with the right packaging assortment, while scoping future growth areas such as green shipping materials. We are a high growth business with multiple warehouses in two countries serving a market opportunity of 1M+ merchants in over 175 countries. NOW is the chance to get in on the ground floor and help us design for scale. We need someone with strong analytical skills and a planning background to help us design the future of the network. To give you a sense of what you ll be working on, here s a peek at some of our key priorities:


  • Materials Planning: Manage our packaging materials replenishment and stock levels on a routine basis for all our warehouse partners, routinely assess our box assortment and make recommendations driven by solid cost analysis.


  • Process Optimization: We need a strong builder who can come in and create our materials processes from the ground up, with a focus on packaging optimization.


  • Vendor Management & Operational Support: Working closely with our vendors and supporting our nodes to ensure they are set up for success!




Qualifications



Our ideal candidate has:


  • Analytical skills & data-driven: Strong google sheet skills, ability to problem solve and resolve operational disruptions issues quickly


  • Ability to work and communicate effectively across functions, with both internal and external teams


  • Supply chain background


  • Strong problem solver who loves to jump into ambiguous and open-ended problems.


It would be great if you also had:


  • Proven success in a project-based role or start-up environment


  • Direct experience in a high growth or highly complex supply chain
