Description Director Online Recruitment & ExperienceThe University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s (UTK) office of Online Learning and Academic Programs (OLAP) welcomes applications for a newly created Director of Online Recruitment & Experience position.
This new role will provide leadership in the development of the university’s infrastructure in welcoming and supporting fully-online students at the university.
Reporting to the Assistant Vice Provost for Online Learning & Academic Programs, this position directly supports UTK’s mission as outlined in the Chancellor’s Strategic Vision: To provide high-quality, accessible, affordable, inclusive, and life-long learning to the residents of Tennessee, and to students across the nation and around the world.
This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary leader to develop a team and processes that support increased access to the state’s flagship land-grant university.The Director of Online Recruitment & Experience is charged with building a new office that provides enhanced service to students seeking admission to one of the university’s 70 online degrees and certificates.
This position will collaborate extensively with other campus units, including Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions, One Stop, and Communications & Marketing, to enhance recruitment and admissions processes for post-traditional student populations.
Once onboarded, the person in this position will have the opportunity to staff a team of front-line representatives who will serve as the entry concierges for prospective students.
This position is based in Knoxville, Tennessee, with flexible work opportunities (2 days remote/week).
Qualifications Job Duties Through the university’s hiring process, create new team of Enrollment Coaches, who provide recruitment and admissions support for online students; provide direct supervision to team, establishing desired culture for unit.Participate in cross-functional discussions with other offices in the Provost’s Office, including Admissions, Student Success, One Stop, Graduate School, etc.; Contribute ideas to the continual improvement of process and support for the development of structures that support the fully-online student.Coordinate efforts with appropriate staff within Enrollment Management, Student Success, and academic colleges to troubleshoot and problem-solve admissions and registration issues that prevent student progression.Create, develop supporting infrastructure, and coach to Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and Quality Assurance (QA) guidelines for front-line staff, that can be used to gauge levels of service and support provided to prospective and current students.
Such performance measures may include: database/pipeline management, scores of various interactions (phone, email, etc.), employee retention, etc.Utilize various technologies, such as application systems, Customer Relationship Management CRM) systems, dialer technologies, etc.
to track progress of prospective students through the admissions process.Collect and analyze data; provide coaching to staff as well as recommendations to senior leadership based on this data to support Hire and train new Enrollment Counselor staff, as needed based on department needs.Collaborate with academic units to ensure EC’s receive appropriate training on new programs, ensuring accurate and relevant information is provided to prospective students.Provide ongoing professional development to staff as needed, to positively impact overall student experience.Manage budget for assigned team.Other duties as assigned.Knowledge Skills and Abilities Knowledge of higher education admissions and matriculation processesStrong management and supervisory skillsStrong written and oral communication skillsKnowledge and skill in the use of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systemsAbility to motivate staff around university’s vision and mission around higher educationMinimum Requirements Bachelor’s degreeThree years progressively responsible related experience related to Online Education programs, including enrollment or advisingExperience managing or leading enrollment or admissions personnelPreferred Requirements Master’s or other graduate degreeExperience managing enrollment or admissions personnel in support of fully-online programsExperience utilizing CRMs, such as Slate or Salesforce Experience developing communication plans and messaging for prospective students.
