ULCT works on the issues that impact all of the cities and towns across the state.

Job Description:

ULCT is seeking a skilled Communications Manager to lead the organization’s overall communications efforts. The Communications Manager engages with municipal elected officials and staff, directs ULCT’s communications efforts with state, federal, and local officials, handles media, and helps with conferences and events. This is a fulltime position that reports directly to the Deputy Director as a part of the ULCT Engagement Division and oversees the Digital Media Producer. Some travel required.

As Communications Manager, you will:

  • Direct ULCT’s communications efforts and strategy
  • Manage the creation of digital, video, audio, and print content
  • Write and distribute press releases and promotional materials
  • Manage media relations and develop contacts with media members and community leaders
  • Manage and maintain ULCT digital engagement platforms, including website, social media, email systems, and member management systems
  • Ensure consistency of ULCT’s brand across all platforms
  • Assist with ULCT conferences, webinars, trainings, and other events
  • Manage ULCT award and recognition programs
  • Assign work, manage project schedule, supervise quality of product output, and evaluate performance of Digital Media Producer

The best qualified candidate will have the following skills:

  • Extensive working knowledge in the field of communications
  • Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency with communications technologies such as email marketing software and member management systems
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and social media marketing
  • Working knowledge of content management systems, HTML coding, and digital graphics production
  • Knowledge and understanding of video and audio equipment and video production techniques
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of local government processes and structures
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of people, including elected officials & media professionals
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with other staff to coordinate projects
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and projects and manage multiple tasks
  • At least three years’ related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field preferred

Compensation: Salary competitive: $75,000+, depending on qualifications.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $75,000.00 per year
