A role in Labor Relations means counseling and supporting your partners in the field or headquarters in ensuring a positive, comfortable and inclusive environment for all. Your work will have a positive impact across the operation, helping to demonstrate the exceptional quality Target offers as a workplace.


As a Lead Labor Relations Consultant, you will:




  • Serve as thought partner and first point of contact for Field and HQ partners on issues relating to concerted protected activity; Ensure compliance with the National Labor Relations Act, related laws and regulations, and Target policies and practices




  • Leverage feedback, team member and HR data, and established policies and practices to advise partners, identify methods to improve team member experience, and ultimately protect Target’s employment brand and reputation




  • Collaborate with HR partners and business leaders to identify issues, propose solutions and implement action plans that improve operations and engagement; establish ongoing routines with partners to regularly review data, monitor the effectiveness of actions taken, identify priorities, and prepare for future interventions




  • In partnership with HR, facilitate leader trainings and establish best practices for how to effectively lead large teams and drive an engaged workforce




  • Develop an intimate understanding of the nuances of assigned region/business functions and implement individual market strategies that close culture gaps




  • Continuously evaluate team processes and partner with leadership to identify opportunities for efficiency, scale and improvement; lead and participate in company and department initiatives and prioritize efforts that align with broader Field and HQ objectives, as appropriate




  • Recognize trends pertaining to Target culture, leadership behaviors or enterprise risks and establish a cadence to share insights with the broader Employee and Labor Relations Team




  • Consistently demonstrate behaviors aligned to Target’s values of Inclusivity, Connection, and Drive

About you:




  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience




  • 5+ years of experience within Human Resources, Employee Relations, Legal Affairs, Compliance or other relevant business function




  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to facilitate meetings, resolve conflict, build consensus, establish rapport and collaborate effectively across departments and externally




  • Analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to leverage data to influence decisions, identify risks and improvement opportunities, and distill complex issues into actionable plans




  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to create transparency and confidence and influence across all levels of Target Team Members




  • Ability to adapt, prioritize and successfully manage multiple tasks or projects in response to ambiguous, changing or competing priorities




  • Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining appropriate prioritization and ensuring adherence to deadlines




  • Ability to apply discretion and sensitivity while working with confidential information




This position may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target’s needs.  A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that’s not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target. The salary range is :$85,400.00 USD - $153,700.00 USD.
