Responsibilities * Perform a lead role in designing and implementing integrated Surface Mount Technology (SMT) production processes necessary for the introduction of new satellite network assemblies (such as printed circuit boards) and products that are currently in the proto-type and pre-release stage; identify and resolve all major engineering issues prior to product release and production line start-up. * Review and approve the production engineering design schematics drafted by Design Engineers, as well as related engineering documents. * Provide and implement Design for Manufacturability analysis of New Product Introduction designs, provide recommendations to the design engineering teams on required changes to meet cost, throughput, and ease-of-manufacturing goals. * Plan and implement Design of Experiments (DOE) engineering analysis during the prototype production stage: define objectives; identify required process variables; implement the experiment; collect and analyze data; optimize lessons-learned prior to entering the production phase. * Lead the design and implementation of plans for the transition of existing production lines from contract manufacturing to an in-house production capability. * Be responsible for the business case development, prepare and present engineering analysis to justify the proposed production projects. * Analyze new product forecasts, growth estimates and current capacity utilization within existing production facilities to establish the capacity and equipment requirements for proto-type products, and to ensure a successful transition to mass production. * Provide labor cost assessments and technical assessments for Engineering Change Notices to product proto-types and related SMT production processes. * Design production plans and schedules that will be implemented by other production and manufacturing engineers. Mentor junior engineering staff. Basic Requirements: * Master's degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, and 3 years of qualifying experience in the position or in a related Industrial Engineering position. * As an alternative to a Master's degree, a Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering and 5 years of qualifying experience in the position or in a related Industrial Engineering position will be acceptable. Special Requirements: * The three years of qualifying experience must have been gained in a production environment for telecommunication or electronics parts and components. * Three years of experience implementing productions processes for Surface Mount Technology based assembly's, parts and components (e.g. printed circuit boards). * 12 months experience implementing and optimizing production Line Balancing. #DNPCB #DNPAJE #DNPGD #LI-DNI Echo Star is committed to offering a comprehensive and competitive benefits package.
