What you ll be doing...
As a Principal Network Performance Engineer, you will be helping us promise our customers the most reliable coverage across the country, and you ll make sure we deliver on that promise. You ll be a technical leader and authority in our virtualized RAN network for a large geographic area, proactively identifying new ways to improve speed and quality, and helping to resolve our most complex problems. Key responsibilities of this position include:
Leading activities for implementation and testing for new vRAN architecture and feature enhancements.
Evaluating and provide recommendations for tools enhancements needed to operate the vRAN network today and in the future.
Developing new processes and improve existing processes that improve efficiencies, maximize productivity and increase service reliability in building and operating of the vRAN network.
Serving as subject matter expert on vRAN and other virtualized applications running on VCP Edge and Far Edge, and the tools supporting the performance monitoring of these applications.
Working with multiple internal and external groups to manage and coordinate work activities.
Leading other engineers to learn new technologies, tools and troubleshooting techniques.

You ll need to have:
Bachelor s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Experience in implementation and testing for new vRAN architecture and feature enhancements.
Experience in supporting vRAN and other virtualized applications running on VCP Edge and Far Edge, and the tools supporting the performance monitoring of these applications.
Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Degree in Engineering or Computer Science; Master s degree.
Experience in one or more of the following fields: wireless communications, IP networking, cloud engineering.
Experience in Openstack and Kubernetes including orchestration, virtual machines and containers.
Knowledge of 4G and 5G wireless architecture and call flow for both voice and data.
Knowledge of IP networking including routing protocols and router interface and configuration.
Experience in Microsoft Excel/PowerPoint and Google Sheets/Slides for effective analytical insights and meaningful communication to peer groups and executives.
Knowledge of Verizon s ecosystem and integration points: alarming, monitoring, performance, inventory management, etc.
Strong oral and written communication skills ability to interface with various levels within organization.
Good Vendor, Project and Product Management skills.
