Job Description


The Elevator Pitch: Why will you enjoy this new opportunity?


The Observability Engineering team is in charge of creating meaningful dashboards to multiple organizations inside the Security Business Unit. We are looking for someone who will play a lead role in our observability tools like Logz.io, Wavefront, CloudHealth, and Kubernetes.


What is the primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for?


As a member of the Observability team, you will help us to enable the engineering organization to utilize logs, metrics, and traces. In order to do this, you will learn how to deploy observability components and services in kubernetes utilizing helm charts and CI/CD pipelines.


Success in the Role: What are the performance goals over the first 3-6-12 months you will work toward completing?


In the first 3 months, as a new member of the Observability engineering team you will get familiar with the multiple technologies, pipelines and tools. In the first 6 months you will start to work on your own projects from end to end. By the end of the first year, you will become an SME in observability.


What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?


  • Support the engineering organization on how to send logs, metrics, and traces
  • Create and support current helm charts
  • Create and support current docker images
  • Work with multiple teams in their collection of metrics across our environments
  • Integrate our Observability stack in new kubernetes environments
  • Utilize Terraform to create modules for alerts and dashboards
  • Support of current and new CI/CD pipelines
  • Ensure compliance with appropriate security standards


What is leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?


This role reports into the Observability Engineering team, a cross functional team that includes SREs, Staff engineers and Data Analysts across the globe. You will work closely with engineering teams, maintain and deploy key tooling for enabling development teams.
