This role is responsible for translating business growth goals and strategies into actionable, data-driven resources and insights by conducting complex and ambiguous analyses and developing/designing, maintaining, and distributing findings and reports to regional and local leaders. Responsibilities include creating measurement or analytical methodologies, establishing metrics and indicators based on business goals and strategies, determining baseline performance and influencing target/forecasts, performing complex and ambiguous analyses around growth performance and environment, communicating trends and risks, explaining analytic results and potential root causes, and making actionable data-informed recommendations. This leader will develop actionable analytic insights and resources that power strategy development and decisions as well as leader accountability to rapid cycle improvement and replicating/ scale impactful tactics. This leader will draw upon growth knowledge base, superior analytic and research skills, experience with relevant data systems and platforms, and communication strengths to drive C&S Growth’s insight and value measurement discipline. Position has visibility to and will collaborate with leaders across C&S.

Primary Responsibilities:

Create analytic methodologies and/or resources that promote reporting and tracking data-informed strategy development and rapid cycle quality improvement efforts

  • Effectively gather requirements, probe for deeper understanding, and translate business growth goals and strategies into meaningful analytic solutions and tools
  • Develop analytic methods, models, and tools that business leaders can use to inform decisions and QI efforts, balancing standardization with enabling nimble adaptation to market nuances ultimately
  • Enhance usability, accuracy, and comprehensiveness of data resources and tools to ensure insight meaningfulness and adoption through building and enhancing complex models as well as identifying appropriate data sources, metrics, tools, and platforms
  • Build resources, process, and use cases for adopting resources
  • Educate customers on performance measurements and quality improvement processes   
  • Manage, support, and/or provide subject matter expertise to internal project initiatives related to value measurement

Develop reports highlighting market or regional-specific data-based insights that influence business decisions and communicate impact of growth strategies  

  • Develop key indicators and metrics aligned to growth goals and strategies, collaborating with C&S regional and Growth Operations leaders to establish baseline performance, understand report tracking requirements, and influence forecast/targets and measurement methodology
  • Collect, analyze, and synthesize performance data (e.g., market; financial; operational), identifying appropriate data sources, metrics, visualization tactics, and platforms to ultimately develop reports/insights on performance, impact, trends, and root causes to support C&S regional team efforts to achieve growth goals
  • Develop regularly scheduled analyses and reporting suites as well as perform ad hoc data requests to drive insight to business performance and opportunities and inform business strategies
  • Communicate results of analyses to effectively and clearly translate deep technical concepts to non-technical as well as technical senior stakeholders – as well as explain results and influence next steps/recommendations
  • Develop case studies demonstrating data-informed strategies and quantitative impact to business; document and share best practices, lessons learned, and pain points to foster cross-market learning and optimize resource utilization
  • Support business owners in business case and CBA development as needed for initiatives aligned to growth priorities
  • Conduct necessary audits to validate findings in data

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in MIS, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or Business or related field/experience
  • 5+ years of experience performing significant data analysis and report development
  • 2+ years of experience leading large-scale, strategic initiatives
  • Solid problem-solving ability and detail orientation
  • Solid C&S growth knowledge and organizational awareness
  • Confident data analyst, able to rapidly familiarize oneself to unfamiliar data, integrate multiple data sources, and perform analyses with minimal direction
  • Experience turning analysis into actionable plans to drive business outcomes  
  • Project Management and experience in analysis of business process and workflow and providing an evaluation, benchmark and/or process improvement recommendations– skilled in Microsoft Office, Project, Visio, developing project timelines, charters, and practices like Agile
  • Solid communication skills, able to summarize technical information when not a SME in concise space, communicate effectively with executive leadership, and tell a story with data
  • Proficient in PowerPoint, Word, and email
  • Solid analytic expertise with core Excel capabilities – e.g., pivot tables, v-look-ups, data visualization, etc.
  • Experience developing and implementing effective and strategic analytical solutions to enable data driven decisions
  • Experience working on multiple projects concurrently; demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize deliverables in highly virtual and matrixed environment; excels at working independently in fast paced, ambiguous environment
  • Experience with the following: Salesforce, CSP Facets, HP Console, SMARTwarehouse, Orbit

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of UHG enterprise experience
  • Critical thinker and problem solver in highly ambiguous space, able to proactively advance work independently, understanding business goals, strategies, and needs to identify solutions
  • Proven strategic thinking and business acumen with the ability to align recommendations with business objectives, familiar with developing business cases, understanding C&S financials
  • Proven Cross-functional influence and well-developed relationship building skills (communication, credibility building, negotiation, influence, listening), willing to take a leadership role driving initiatives, working across teams, and integrating multiple perspectives
  • Comfort with ambiguity, able to quickly learn and translate new or technical information to succinct, actionable meaningful insight; able to thrive as a generalist solving problems in unfamiliar/new domain 
  • Experience with any of the following: Impact CSP Facets, COSMOS, NDB, NDAR
  • Proficient experience with SAS and/or other statistical software
  • Proven ability to analyze healthcare trends and develop solutions to address them
  • Solid research skills – familiar with public health and statistical research approaches

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary/hourly range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary/hourly range for Connecticut/Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
