POSITION TITLE: Manufacturing Eng Manager

POSITION REPORTS TO: VP of Supply Chain and Operations

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This position is responsible to manage manufacturing capabilities, manufacturing quality performance, NPI transition into the manufacturing organization, compliance to quality and design standards and to serve as an authority on manufacturing engineering supporting the design of products for low cost manufacturing.

Management responsibilities include the supervision of engineers, technicians, administrators, and support staff which require team leadership, department budget management, project planning, project status reporting, and performance evaluation of assigned staff members.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Responsible for coordinating product failure analysis, managing NPI transition to manufacturing partners, and resolving product and process issues in the supply chain. The scope includes support of new designs and maintaining existing designs. Technical quality includes meeting design schedules, cost targets, production yield targets, supply chain quality, and meeting customer needs.

· Responsible for manufacturing quality performance of external manufacturing processes and suppliers. Including SCAR management, Supplier qualification/ selection, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.

· Manage the business relationship and performance of our contract manufacturers for sustaining and NPI transition projects, and regulatory compliance at factory to ensure good working relationships and escalation of issues.

· As the authority on manufacturing engineering, is responsible for ensuring products are designed for low-cost manufacturing. This includes bringing knowledge of manufacturing process back to the product development projects and contributing to the designs.

· Leadership of engineers, technicians, and administrators, creating a positive team spirit, productive and efficient work atmosphere, while enhancing employee engagement and retention.

· Supporting Project Managers and Product Managers of internal cross-functional project teams, including creation of detailed schedules, reports, and engineering documentation within the scope of the PDP process.

· Provide support to Operations and the supply chain to resolve product quality and manufacturing process problems, maintain process and manufacturing test yield targets, and assess process cost and value.

· Provide quality and manufacturing support to sales, technical services, and product management.

· Identify and arrange for career development and training opportunities for assigned team members.

· Report to the VP of Supply Chain and Operations on a regular basis regarding project status, resource allocation and employee performance to ensure goals and objectives are fully aligned with the executive staff.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Ability to motivate and encourage employees with similar technical capabilities and skills and lead cross-functional teams covering many disciplines.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical peers, management, and suppliers.

· Ability to analyze product requirements and develop plans to support delivery of new products within the scope of the business’s strategy and objectives.

· Experience managing contract manufacturing partners

· 10 years proven leadership experience supporting the delivery and manufacturing of new products on time, within budgetary restraints.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

B.S. Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or equivalent. A graduate level technical degree or an MBA a plus.
