Manufacturing Engineer

MANUFACTURING ENGINEER SUMMARY

A Carefree Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for analyzing operations, designing workflows and production processes, reducing inefficiency, designing/sourcing manufacturing equipment, and ensuring that final products meet and exceed the established quality standards.

This role requires creating a positive work environment that supports continuous improvement across all functions within a diverse workforce. The position reports to the Facilities Engineering Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Observes safety, health and environmental policies and procedures for the facility, and incorporates these practices in daily work, and project goals and outcomes.
  • Responsible for collaboration with Operations management and Engineering in accordance with all

Environmental Safety and Health Standards.

  • Sees through, from conceptualization to implementation, projects that improve efficiency through application of Lean Manufacturing principles and other various continuous improvement tools.
  • Evaluates manufacturing processes by: designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
  • Designs layout of equipment and workspaces for maximum efficiency.
  • Assures product and process quality by: designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Provides information to assist in manufacturing decision-making by calculating production, labor, and material costs.
  • Complies with government regulations.
  • Keeps equipment operational by: coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures; requesting special service when necessary.
  • Completes design and development projects, to include training and guiding technicians and production personnel.
  • Designs/sources various new machinery and control systems to help minimize costs and increase production quality in support of business objectives.
  • Evaluates current manufacturing practices for improvement, and designs new processes to support growth or change based on business conditions.
  • Generates, reviews, and revises standard operating procedures, including updating drawings for process changes.
  • Work with New Product Engineering and Sustaining Engineering concerning implementation of new product design, assembly, and tooling to ensure safe and efficient production methods.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field
  • Interpersonal skills for interacting with team members and stakeholders at varying levels of the organization.
  • Analytical and creative/resourceful problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to think strategically, gather and synthesize data and information, review objectively, and present facts and recommendations to management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead teams in implementing productivity changes.
  • Ability to create viable solutions to overcome a variety of challenges.
  • Ability to thrive and adapt in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to coordinate and influence internal and external resources to advance business objectives.
  • Commitment to meeting deadlines, with ability and willingness to occasionally work additional hours, when necessary.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, CAD (Solidworks), controls design
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM (MasterCAM) and general fabrication is a plus
  • Knowledge of PLC code is a plus
  • Continuous Improvement or Lean Six Sigma experience is a plus

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The salary range for this position is anticipated to be from $2307.69 to $3076.92 biweekly.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
